I am a tad disappointed that the artists did not work out the shape of the skull with fangs on the Banshee:

I mean the round skull of the Atlas does look good, and so I hoped they would also go for the more ferocious skull of the Banshee with its sharp eyetoothes.

Over at NGNG are some more pics and I am a tad reliefed now, as it seemed to be the angle of this first mechbay picture that did not show the heads shape or did not give it credit enough:

Here we can see the face and fang structure of the mechs head a tad better and it started to grow an me immidiately. PGI certainly got lucky with their mech artists.

I was thinking the same thing that it had five fingers and a thumb. Better to punch you with, my dear ;)

In all fairness, I never saw a skull head on a Banshee ever. I never its head evoked it at all. Although the BNC-1E from one of the TRO: Primitives volumes definitely brings it out, and I love the look.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the c-bill models get fangs or some kind of styling like that. I have a feeling that the fangs on the hero 'mech are a hero 'mech-specific skin (though I bet the Franken 'mech skin will do it justice).

i hope not to many ppl get this abomination. I love to spend money on unique looking mechs,
but if PGI can make the same money on a low quality product! Why bother bringing expensive new unique mechs?
They will just release a cheap recycled materia. They dont even need ur favorite expensive mech artist they can fire him, and let any one els do the job.

After that they just give ur favorite mechs name to it....... LOL and most ppl fall for it..............and job done.
LOL
well its just sounds like a banshee but looks like a kintaro, battlemaster, shadowhawk. catapult missile pod

And the average player wont even notice the quality shift ?

its the only thing where real quality shines in this game all the time so dont let it fade ! ! !

Is this the tripple AC20 mech we're looking for? The AC40 BoomJager kinda gets old now.

Well they could work out the skull and fang shape a bit better on the mechs head.
Also they could make the Banshee a bit more lanky - it just looks a tad to wide compared to the original art. So it should be more proportioned like a Shadowhawk and not like a Wolverine.

TBH im quite happy with this rendition, because the banshee's original line art is absurd.

It looked like a stupid cheesy 1950s sci fi horror death robot wearing sun glasses, now it looks like a real battlemech.

I was looking forward to the sunglasses though ;).

Im sorry, at a distance, the cockpit in that picture (Ryoken's) looks like one of the pigs from Angry Birds.

I also like the fact that mechs actually look like they come form the same universe at least. Sure you get reuse of assets but it at least makes sense.

Also seeing the pace they set for them self this was the only way to give us anything close to a mech a month. If each should be hand crafted from scratch we might see a mech every third month at best... maybe even less often and then we would have complaints about that instead.

kind of with you and not.

Some standard is to a degree good, but I feel the trouble is, PGi have one design team, and all Mech factories in the fictional world would have their own design team.

While Tank/aircraft/ship designers all have to obey certain principles, they all design differently around those principles, this MWO is sadly lacking.

While they've pulled out one or two really good ones, the Victor was a bit disappointing , and the designs have got worse, its now lacking any creativity, and the curve is getting steeper.

They need two similar design teams on this, to generate some freshness, or people will just stop buying them.

I don't really care if the next new mech is meta friendly or not, but just a rehash of slightly changed parts from other mechs is testing my willingness to buy more, to the limit, and I allready thought the BLR sucked and as some have mentioned, its the BLR top half with extra's

Same discussion on NGNG, Spiralface correctly pointed out that the "fang" reduction together with the under-bite rather than the overbite are what make the Banshee look dull.
http://www.nogutsnog...g14339#msg14339

Well maybe in some distant future we will see a facelift.

And I give you full Ack! If they do apply the facelift I want my Banshee painted in the spirit of the island!
