Oh, it was brilliant in many regards. And the cast was superb. But lowbrow? ....Yeah, a lot of it was.

WTF did you expect? Something modern and sleek and 3050? Like this? RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee. Good luck with PGI originality but its not as bad as the awesome.

eh...yeah. exaggeration much? And no, while the red headed stepchild of hitboxes, the AWS-8Q LOOKS good. The Banshee looks like generic lego mech.

Is it wrong to want it to have the key attributes of the actual design? (taller and thinner than an Atlas, Death'sHead with Raybans. Boxy design)

This is what I was more expecting.

Iconic sunglasses

Raised gun ports to be right under the armpits.

narrower frame, I am fine with it being taller than an atlas.

Looks like lower slung arms than the Atlas but the Ballistic slots will be higher.

correct. Unfortunately the LT energy slot is right next to the head when a laser is equipped.... but mount a PPC and it rides sidecar to the ballistic.

If you paint the LM all default Green. The mouth you all are bitching about is actually there, its hard to spot due to the pattern on the Hero but it actually IS there.

When something is in the head the laser port fills the mouth so you can't see the upper fangs but they are indeed there. So running around with a flamer = fire breathing daemon.

The Model T came out in 1908 and ran till 1927 and pretty much looked similar each year. Exception of course is the convertible vs. the hard top versions.

So your pictures are two different cars. So can you find me a 2014 Model T? I want to see how different they are.

Probably why we don't see the concept art any more.

Yeah that is not taller or skinnier than an Atlas. Looks like it might be wider than it though. I think what killed the Banshee design is that it looks rushed with a lot of recycled parts making it look bland/generic rather than inspired and exciting. They pulled off a great design with the Firestarter last month then they dropped the ball with this. Hopefully they do better with the next designs.

You would be saying the same thing if this mech came out before the Battlemaster did and that the battlemaster would look like this mech. The Banshee is a brick, look at the original art posted in the thread and you can see they did VERY good with this mech.

You are right I would be complaining about that too. In fact I am not a big fan of the Battlemaster too but for other reasons. Also the origanal art for just about every mech is downright horrible; so no matter what they did could be considered an improvement including taking a dump on the computer screen. You may like the look of the MWO Banshee, but I think that Alex could have done better with this. The Banshee is suppose to have a head that is clearly above the shoulders, be taller and skinnier than an Atlas; this has none of this.

Edit: Also what the **** is up with the 6 digit hands?

not entirely true. The actual design features are there, true, but the proportioning is all out of whack. Look at the "stretched" version done by ssm
Posted Image
with correct "tall but lanky" proportions, it indeed COULD have been very good. Instead it is just fat and doughboy looking. And Alex's concept pic, is even worse, IMO (much like the Orion in his art had a soft chubby feel....the modelers largely fixed on the ingame model). Had they proportioned it right, it still needs the Raybans but it would have been very good, if a little nondescript (aka lacking in distinguishing features, in the Banshee's case, the Rayban DeathsHead).

The constant fattening of everything in MWO is my one gripe to their design department. From the Jager to the BLR to the Thud and Wolverine and yes, the Banshee, they all could use a bloody diet.

Thank you for beating me to it.
Problem: the 1953 Corvette still looks great today.
the 2014 Stingray is a gorgeous Corvette.

The Banshee by contrast.. is a miserable failure looks wise.

I think the Banshee's kinda...fugly.
I thought the Highlander looked hideous. Some how they managed to trump the Highlander's hideousness!
