But seriously, those hardpoints will exclusively be used for the "next" AC40 build (first for Assaults, and it's been a while since the Jager).

Try an Atlas or Catapult K2 with twin LB10X. Just try it.
I mean, I did this...
With THIS. (I later dropped the larges to mediums, cut a ton of armor, upped the engine to a 350, added 2 more heat sinks, and popped in another ton of LB10X ammo. It was too damn slow.)
EDIT: And before I forget, I don't think quad LB10X on the Mauler will be viable. It's a 90 ton mech, and you want to throw 44 tons of guns on it? Ammo not included? It'll probably need at least 6 tons of ammo, probably closer to 8. You're going to have a tiny engine, heat sinks crammed in the arms, and very little armor. I suppose properly screened it can get results, but it would be less hassle running almost anything else.

I tried something like that with the Atlas-D. I got "high damage scores" (mostly filler) and not enough kills. The only think it really do is give me "less attention" because I didn't go full dakka with dual UAC5s. Though, this was generally pre-LBX10 buffs (at least 2 that I recall).
Plus, there was this Shadowhawk chasing my Griffin earlier today, failing to do anything worthwhile to me outside of losing the shield arm.
Yea... no.

LB10X is surprisingly good in pairs. A single is just there to harass lights or exploit opened armor. Against a mid-range medium or bigger without an armor breach, a single will just p*** him off.

No its not a kill machine, but it is a win machine. Anytime something with exposed internals wanders by, blamo. Basically, its 30 dmg with very solid heat and cycle rate, and that one ton between it and a AC10 makes a big diff, accounts for a lot of the ammo tonnage.
I run twin LBX and srm's on my DDC, with 2 LL. Chain fire all the splat weapons. makes them run, every time under non stop pressure or screen shake and smoke. LL for that touch of accuracy or concentrated alpha strike to CT in close combat.
I like them better then ultras lately, as for whatever reason my ultras jam before firing a dshot sometimes. Really annoying to me, and AC5 doesnt have that fear factor, though obviously easier to fit on certain mechs with slots/tonnage.
AC40 Mauler, I wonder what people will say is "easy to deal with them" about those when they hit the battlefield.

More or less. It's either that or through an NGNG podcast.
Bombadil mentioned they had the art department working on it a few weeks ago. He said it in text chat during one of Impaler's livestreams, and hinted there were more details in that night's podcast. A lot of people are conjecturing that we'll see it soon, but my guess is it will be sometime after the clans hit.

Slow and short range focused. Should have the same engine cap as the Highlander. Lights will tear it apart. We get one or two more large maps before it releases and people will actually try to keep it closer to the stock loadout. Probably dropping the LRMs to up the ACs to 5s... Pure conjecture, of course.

And no your lbx atlas is not good. It is garbage.

And... No, the increased crit rate has little real impact on how effective LB-X's are. Once you're looking at that kind of tonnage of weaponry, if your target has no armor, whatever you're striking ought to be falling off even without any crits.
Bad LB-X's are bad.
They're fun!
But bad.

Gotta admit, I choked on my coffee right here.
Seriously, though... The LB-X Atlas is a perfect example of a mech that misleads people into thinking it's good. Yes, you can get massive DPS output, and pull huge damage numbers. You'll even pull huge damage numbers against skilled opponents.
You'll lose, though. Because you're splatting that damage all over their mechs, while they can largely ignore the teensie tiny little pellets hitting them everywhere for quite a while.
And you're packing those into a huge, appallingly slow monstrosity. It's trivial to stay out of real threat range. Medium lasers, SRM's (lol@hit detection), LB-X? Effectively a 270m hardcap on range. Outside that, you're just not really accomplishing much.
Don't get me wrong. LB-X's are fun. I run them in my D-DC a lot simply because it's a blast to blow shit up. Lots of 800-1000pt damage games. But it's still bad.
