Quick question about LRM's and Artemis IV.
As far as damage done, is it better to have 2 LRM 5 (without Artemis) versus having 1 LRM 5 with Artemis IV?

The damage is heavier on the 2 LRMs. Artemis just increases pinpoint accuracy (and trajectory). I would go with the 2 LRMs.

2 LRM5s are better if only to get some missiles past AMS. Generally though, Artemis will give you faster locks (even faster with TAG) and tighter groupings with LOS. Thus making it worthwhile on dedicated missile mechs but not as worthwhile on mechs that uses missiles as back ups. It also reduces the spreading of SRM missiles to the point where a ASRM6 can hit a single location.

I wouldn't bother with Artemis on LRM5s regardless.

Indeed. Depending upon your hardpoints, the tonnage used for Artemis on LRM5s would be put to better use adding another launcher, or upsizing a launcher, or more heat sinks, or more ammo, or another gun, or more armor, or... well, almost anything. The only thing I'd use Artemis enhanced LRM5s on is an A1 Catapult missile spammer.

Artemis is not really useful on the lighter launchers. the LRM5s are good for thier tonnage but if you stack artemis you are paying an extra crit slot and ton for each launcher vs taking some bigger laucnhers.
LRM15s and 20s are more efficient uses of artemis as you are only paying the artemis less times and you are not adding a massive amount of extra weigth percentage wise for Artemis.
I generally only ever use artemis for LRM15s because i dont feel the 20s are really that great for the tonnage and anythign less feels like a waste of tonnage and crit slots per launcher.

.. And even there I prefer 6 tons more ammo to the minimal decrease in lock times and tighter grouping with LOS (which you generally try to avoid having with that mech anyway)

Artemis 15's is the way to go...i have only ONE artemis 20 mech, and its my c4 that i very seldom drive....artemis 15', and just 15's in general are the best bang for the buck tonnage to damage wise...
and only 2 lrm 5's? kind of a waste if you ask me the only luck ive had with lrm 5's is in mounts of 4 or more. Stalkers carry lrm 5's very well...toss in some large and medium lasers and you can bring the pain at any range. My favorite stalker has 4 lrm 5's, 4 mediums and 2 larges with pretty good heat effeciency and 1.2k rounds of lrm ammo....i can have the lrms constantly going during the match, and when I run out of ammo (I almost always do) move in with the lasers...or enemies assume you are a vulerable lrm boat and get close..and get laser blasted in the face....thats why i call her Laserdeath :3
