I don't even have a name for it. All i know is that I've been averaging over 500 damage, 6 assists, and at least 2 kills with this thing and I love it. Now these aren't the most impressive stats i know, but it's just a fun mech to play and (tf2 reference here) is credit to team. Dual ultras are always your best friend for raw DPS while the medium pulse laser supports brawling and the PPC deals damage at longer ranges. Also, as every good phract pilot knows, having those upper mounted PPC's on your torso just feels so right. It's great for shooting enemies over ledges and peeking corners. Man sometimes, get ready for this, I even chain fire the ultras to prevent jamming up in a firefight and to cut down on heat. (yes ultras can overheat you in the bowl on caustic). 2 jump jets will always suffice and the heat Eff. isn't half bad. Now if you hate ultras with a burning passion you could try something like this:

Try it and let me know what you think!.

Man, I really gotta buy one of these soon. 10 million c-bills does take quite a while to grind out...

I definitely try something close to your build but I'd swap the Med pulse for dual medium lasers (1 in each arm) since I find them more versatile. Is that something you've tried already?

I have not, but i know on smurphy's it's got a 41% heat Eff which isn't as good as with the the pulse. I'll give it a try next time i'm in game.

Ya, I noticed the loss of heat efficiency vs your original build but since the lasers are just there for short range I don't think it'd be too bad.

Finally got the c-bills to put this thing together and I gotta say Cataphracts are pretty awesome. The build with the dual UAC5s is a real beast and when you get lucky with the jam rates you can really tear stuff up. Only thing I didn't like is the spread from having one of the UACs in the arm and the other in the torso. This got me thinking and I swapped them both out for LB10s since those have spread anyways. It wasn't supposed to be serious (lol, LB10s...) but I just had my best game with this mech.

Yeah the 3D is a deadly variant to be sure. It can do all sorts of crazy builds. This was what I ended with in the end. Simple. Cool. Any Range. ;)

One LB10-x isnt that great but running two is actually really effective.

I have a K2 with duel lb10-x and 4 mlas and it work's well for me.

For sure the XL engine is a liability though I don't know how the hitbox changes have affected its overall performance since I never played a Cataphract before this morning. That being said I haven't found it to be too bad and it allows me to pack on quite a bit of weaponry. The best defense is a good offense right?

most mech stock weapon loadouts I usually change, but the 3D 4ml, uac5, lbx10 is a good enough armor munchie machine.

Thats a hell of a combo... I certainly know I couldn't make it work but if it does for you, more power to you!

Move to Std engine brawler builds and you'll be amazed at the 3D's survivability. I've been running with Std 250, AC20, PPC, and LPL, all in the torso. I've had multiple 4+ kill matches this past week with this build.

Yeah I'm used to the 4X, another deadly Cataphract. So I'm right at home at that speed. ;)

Yeah deadly if u can get the arms to shoot over that tiny little hill cause it has knuckle dragging arms. Liked the 4x a bit b4 the jagger mech came out, does everything better and can hill hump. And u don't lose any side torso armor going down to the 65 ton chassis from the 70 I'm not sure if many know that I personally think it was a mistake in this game and they ran with it. The only viable cat is the 3d hands down. I will say the double uac5 is awesome both with the largest motor and 4 meds., and with the one ppc as well, although cause it was just one ppc I went with the er ppc instead

Uh, what? I don't hit the dirt, but then I don't shoot at it either. It has lots of armor, I don't see how another heavy mech should have drastically different armor if any different.

As far as "viable" is concerned. Who decided this list? Viable for what?

My 4X will mop up a Jagermech or most any mech in no time. Only an amazing solo pilot or great enemy team work will stop me. You can't even run 4 AC/5 effectively on a Jagermech, not enough tonnage for engine/ammo.

Yeah deadly if u can get the arms to shoot over that tiny little hill.
