Read that as:

3 ECM Atlases, 3 Dual AC20/Gauss Jaegers, 3 ECM Cicadas, 3 ECM Spiders.

Lol.

more like 3 victors 3 cataphracts 3 shadowhawks 3 jenners.

it is funny to see how out of touch with the meta some people are.

Yeah, but with your composition the team doesn't have 9 completely impenetrable ECM walls. That was sort of my point. With that group, no LRM would ever have a chance of hitting. Ever.

The only way I can see equal drop weight working without both side having the exact same weight is if they allowed un equal numbers, to make up the same weight.

Personaly, I prefer to see a veriety. It keeps things from getting stale.

agree.. but the only way to really get it would to be to not allow custom builds.. all mechs by default when you buy them come built with "role" in mind.

Role Warfare is an entirely different concept than stock loadouts. The nutshell of it is that basically, every weight class would have their own functions on the battlefield that are useful to their team. This means lights and mediums too, not just heavies and assaults. If we embraced RW fully and executed it properly, you would be able to say that a Commando or w/e on your team is just as valuable as a Highlander (but obviously, with vastly different strengths and weaknesses). If your team was a Steiner Scout company, you would be disadvantaged against a team that had all mech types on it.

Enforcing stock loadouts doesn't achieve this end, because BT in general was designed around the "bigger is better" outlook. Mechs under 65 tons would still be straight-out less useful to their team than mechs 65 tons and over (in general, of course some certain mechs/loadouts are exceptions).

Guaranteed nobody will run that without 1 Atlas or Raven/Spider/Cicada because it's not for LRMs it's also for not pinging early on unless someone sees you off at a distance.

Which is more of a statement that PGI has made them completely useless in a team based environment.

Oddly enough, LRMs tended to be one of the most used long range weapons in BT. They're cheap to manufacture, cheap to repair and the ammo is relatively inexpensive.

But, what with the impenetrable wall of ECM, the hyperactive AMS shooting at every missile (not just the ones coming at you), the slow speed and the double armor/internal structure of every mech....it's no wonder they're not used.

The only way they're useful now is if you vomit a pornographic number of missiles into the air and completely overwhelm the defenses....
