Inner sphere Great Houses and the Clans have a lot of history. In short, the clans are a group that left the Inner Sphere a long time ago, moved to a new region of space and formed a new culture.

Mercs are just units for hire instead of being paid military of the Great Houses.

The verbose details of that history are not entirely relevant, except to say that the Clan use different technology than the Inner sphere. Clans have their own mechs that differ from IS mechs, as well as variations of technology (different weapons or modifications of the same weapons/technology, such as clan XL engines having only 2 crits per side torso). Clan tech is generally superior to IS tech because the Inner Sphere fought through many wars that destroyed much of the existing tech and infrastructure.

If you'd like to read about the Great Houses, the Clans, etc, hop over to Sarna.

You can learn a lot about factions and Clans if you read the books ;)
I find them very nicely done.

This may help you. Some videos with small windows of text and lots of visuals.

This video is about the Inner Sphere and its factions. It is also about how the factions became divided. The character, Kerensky who is mentioned in this, exiles himself and most of the universe's best technology.

Kerensky and his children create the Clans. This tells about them.

Mercenaries are simply soldiers for hire with little or no loyalties to anything aside from money.

You could also google maps of the inner sphere by date. The most relevant should be 3045-3067 map. It's from the time lostech (lost, then found tech) was implemented till the end of the clan invasion.

Now good sir dont take me wrong really dont.

I want more moar MOOOORE

dam greed overtook me and that shouldnt be and is not description of me

I was looking for part 3 but I hit the invisible wall :/
This really is something! Was that hook intentional ?Or did I scratch mountain from far far away unprepared to get to the top hmmm I will dig in center of that mountain and will get to top, time is only questionable.

No really now I feel like I do know something and I do know that feeeling is false.

So I will try to expalin my self and my needs to say so.

Very start of this topic was in intention to help me to decide where to look ppl to group with, so confusion started as I wasnt sure where to look becouze I smelled story here and I do value some belives/ways-of-life over other like we all do and didnt just want to go blind like I am now like I feel now.(omg I m not sure is this what I meant to say my english is limited, hope U do and U will understand)
It is not that I am roleplayer thou I respect that very very much I am just jealous becouze I can not roleplay due to my lack of english language but I can be close to it with my deeds (dam lol this sounds weired but screw it)

Ok I am looking at clans now,is that good place to search for somewhat likeminded ppl?
Can u tell me what clan is known for honor (not HODOR it is not about HODOR do u read no HODOR) or should I say which one is most honorable if there is one and I do know that there must be one:) that is where I want to start my next search of honorable Mechwarriors!

It was made for a mod that crased before it ever took off.

He did one other video. It's a short-version of the two above.

I could.

....But I won't. ;) Abandoned project; a singe player mock-up with 2012 MechWarrior Online.

I recommend "MechWarrior 3," "MechWarrior 4," "MechCommander" and "MechCommander 2" intros for more video goodness.

Far as the Clans... "Clan Wolf Intro" and "Clan Jade Falcon Intro."

To add to what others have said, clans and other factions have no impact on the game so far. If you're looking for a group of players to join, it doesn't really make a difference which faction they're aligned with, if any. I haven't really heard of any strict role-playing units. Eventually, when the game is developed further, your chosen faction will impact the prices of equipment along with some other things, but it shouldn't make a big difference either way.

If you'd like to look for a group to join, you can find recruitment posts for various units on the recruitment forum here:
http://mwomercs.com/...corps-outreach/

If you'd like to play with others without joining a group right away, you can jump onto a public teamspeak server. There's a forum post with some public server information here:

READ LEROY REEEEEAD!

There are some (ALOT of) good books out there that are worth the trouble. If it hasn't been recommended already. I have gone through a few.

I found "Decision At Thunder Rift" to be a good one. Someone gave me "Shrapnel" which is filled with some good short stories.

I had a hard time finding a copy that wasn't selling for $75+
Since MWO has launched the more rare BT/MW novels have become a hot commodity again.

I currently am finishing my series collection and need just 3 more novels. Then i'll re-read in lore-chronological order and likely sell the set.
