No matter what I do I get this error. Tried to patch the game and got this error. I deleated the downloaded patch files. no luck. I uninstalled the game. Cleaned my registry. no luck. Tried with my antivirus/firewall off. Still no luck.

Anyone have a fix I am out of ideas.

edit:
the error says

"The downloaded file is currupt. The MD5 hash of the local file doesn't match that of the file on the server. Would you like to retry?"

Hi,

I'm new to this game and had been trying ages to get past this error for my first install. I tried every workaround i could find to no avail. Then i just kept messing around, and found a solution that worked. Just now with the new patch had to prove it worked again.

1. Turned off antivirus (Avira antivir)

2. When the error message pops up, I went to the download folder (/Piranha games/MWOupdate) and copied the downloaded files to another folder. This before closing the error window.

3. Closed the error message, copied the files back to the download folder, and started patching again. This time it goes smoothly until the end.

Dunno if it works for you but it's worth a shot I suppose.

Hello,
thats exactly the same error I'm working on.
Contacted the support, but it seems PGi is a bit busy at the moment. No answer till now.
I'll try your tip, simplicissimus. Maybe it'll work.
DonCraigedit: nope, this dosen't work for me.

Sorry to hear that, DonCraig.
Don't know if it's significant, but I forgot to mention I also used "Windows XP SP2" compatibility setting on "MechWarriorOnline.exe" plus "Run as administrator". Running Win 7 64-bit.
Not sure if it affects the patching as there's also an executable named "MWOPatcher.exe" which seems like more logical choice to tamper with, but mine was as is.

It's a real bummer this bug, hope they'll solve it soon.

Run the repair tool. It will install the new (patched) files. When it shuts down, start it again. It will shut down with an error message repairing every file over 100mb. Takes its time but it works. win8.1 64-bit, Avira antivir

Ok - I will try that. Should take some time because I tried to completely reinstall the game and now I get the error after downloading the big 4 Gig Patch.

I am getting the same error. I am using a new HP Pavilion with Norton antivirus and windows 8. I will try saving the files when I get the error again as I have downloaded the first 2 gigs well over 4 times now each time crashing. This time I am running the patch as administrator and will try figure out how to turn off the antivirus as I don't understand windows 8 yet. Think I tried this time to make it compatible with windows 7 too. if it crashes again ( when I crashes again) Ill try just doing the repair tool this time over an over again

Using the repair tool over and over again worked for me but it took me the whole last weekend until it was finished.

One year later... I downloaded the game 3 times. I'm trying for the last time.
