Also, I am usually pugging solo or not even group leader when this happens.

I've seen this if someone in your lance (or eventually your lance if the Company Commanders lance gets wiped out) grabs Company Commander, it will come to you sooner or later, the longer your live and your team doesn't.

I haven't seen it happen if nobody on your team grabs CC

It's a bug, started a patch or two ago.

For whatever reason, certain keyboard inputs cause it to happen... most notably with the spacebar (JJ default key).

So, it's working as intended™.

makes sense, anyone using JJ is obviously a top tier elite player, so it stands to reason they're given CC.

I have it happen to me randomly after I've looked at the map using the 'b' button. But sometime I don't notice it until the after mission results are displayed.

Not sure if a bug or not but as someone posted before i only noticed this happening on matchs where someone already grabbed command.

If they die the command it's granted to next person on list alive it seems.

This is normal, and I've seen it happen, however no one has claimed leader when I am randomly promoted.

I usually don't press "B" for the battlegrid at all.

This is a likely candidate for cause, but I'm using a Joystick + mouse to play. I usually hit some of the commands like the arrows or backspace for chain fire, but not often.

It's the same reason (although I haven't had this one happen in quite a while) that sometimes when I'd hit backspace for chain fire it would alpha strike for some reason.

Well I can say it has happened when no one else has taken it.

Dropped into a match - was the first one on my team to show up (scared me for a bit, cause the timer hadn't even shown up yet)

After about the third ally showed up, it gave me command.
