If two people on the opposite side or even two people on the same team where to challenge each other in one of the six combat trail, lets sat a trail of grievance since it's the most common, a bloodname, or whatever. Would you as clanners allow to the two to duke it out? Has this ever happened before in a game yet? Would it be awesome if their was some kind of one on one dueling in this game maybe even the Solaris arena or for blood name trails?

I would. I would not, however, be able to stop pug teammates from interfering, however. I have, however, managed to convince pugs to allow a fellow Nova Cat to engage a Ghost Bear in a duel once. Good times.....

We have done it several times in game. Much to the irritation of the pugs on our team. Once we were done we would always go on to the rest of the game. Usually we warn them in advance of what we are going to do.

For the most part, any trials conducted within the clan are done by syncing two 12 man groups so as to not disturb the pugs, but there was a time where we had to do them in pug matches and that was interesting to say the least

When we have a chance, we run mostly Trials of Position in 12 or 24 men, sometimes with help from our allies, such as the Nova Cats.

In 12 men we ask the other team if they want to let us doing our ritual combat. If they do not accept we fight vs them.

Once i accepted an open challenge from a veteran warrior of my Clan (now he is our Khan) coming back from a leave of absence. We had fought three times before we could end a duel. Every time the pugs interfered, and even the last time he conceded me the victory after an enemy Jenner attacked us.

I was dropped into a training sync drop once, the team distracted me while they assessed players' progress. When I noticed I wasn't part of the team or the action, I apologized and stood down. The group's leader replied that they appreciated the deference but allowed that as I was not invited I could not be expected to refrain from playing as any pugger would and attack anyone on sight.
I didn't need to.
I watched and admired the group.

Great fellows; wish I had joined them!

Ah, well...opportunity knocks but once... :P

We have had several times that Duels have happened in PUG matches...it is always interesting.

Typically PUG groups are intrigued and want to watch...though you do occasionally see situations where some punk does not want to adhere to it.

Personally I've seen it a couple of times (and partaken once) and most people seem to understand the concept.

As long as you pick a spot away from the main battle (like outside the HPG compound) I've not had a problem with it.

If you just want to go for it in the middle of a melee its more likely fire is coming in accidently from all sides as I suspect no ones going to looks at the names when selecting a target.

But sure, there are some trolls too.

If a request came in that two people wanted to engage in honorable combat as per the rules of Zellbrigen, it would be dishonorable for me to deny that request. Of course I would let them.

If a 12-man of the Clan Wolf Alpha Galaxy happened upon another 12-man Clan who requested something similar, I do not see why our Drop Commander would refuse it.

That is not quite true BK, only a few have objected when we do it. Other than that, before the match starts we announce it to our team (team chat) and call out the two Warriors who will be fighting and no one so far has stepped in to try and stop it.

Please remember that all players from both sides of the game you dropped in, have to agree. You can not assume they agree in any way. If you do it without their consent, you are disturbing their game and they can report you for it.

Those other players dropped into the game to have a match of 12 vs 12 mechwarriors. Not to drop and to only face against 10,5 opponents or with a teammate dead and one damaged against now superior equiped oponents.

You are not alone in the game, please always consider it your top priority that everyone has fun playing the game!

Yesterday i casually sync dropped with two fellow Wolf warriors in River City and i challenged one of them to honorable combat. While the other warrior kept my team mates busy, i fought my duel vs MechWarrior Kael 17 among the buildings of the city. Eventually i lost (i was piloting a Catapult K2 with long range build, i was not expecting such a chance for honorable fun!) but i enjoyed it. I hope i will happen more often ;)

I have found that announcing the acceptance of Zellbrigen duels at the beginning of pug matches tend to end badly, as the pugs on both teams wish to interfere. When I do announce, it's almost always in a 4-man: One to duel, and three to try running interference, including taking friendly and enemy fire meant for the combatants. But sometimes, though very rarely, do the pugs let us duel in peace.

Edit: I only ever accept duels from the opposing team. Any same-side duelling is training done with Sibkin, and that is done only after a general chat announcement of said training. Almost all players who respond in those cases do so positively, remembering we were all new or inexperienced once.

I`ve had a few good duels and trials. Actually I`ve stopped playing and dueled it out with a member of my clan, because he thought he could take me. Man that was a good fight, too bad he had 50 tonnes on me, and I was banged up. But to be honest, the best is what we`ve done a few times where we sync 12 man drops and do duels that way, very fun.

I agree. In my mind, the only time for organized duelling (between clan-mates) is during 12-man sync drops, that way we avoid damaging the game for pugs. That does not prevent me from still wanting to duel in pug drops, just that I do not expect rules to be followed by everyone.

I was lucky enough: when i noticed the Wolves on the other team i was in an area occupied only by me and them and later, during the duel, the second Wolf kept busy my teammate trying to interfere (or whatever he was up to) ;)

I would love to do soon a dueling event! :D

For my sins, as much as i would enjoy duelling, i am one of those strange MadDog Pilots, you know the ones that actually like to support their stars/binaries/trianaries and nuke stuff with missiles.
