Or they could do more than one thing at a time, hmmmmm yeah...

I mean since UI2.0 came out there has been something added/fixed in every single patch. So Achievements is now finally in the game great! That means the guys that were doing that can move on to the next task, such as Loyalty Points system or which ever task in next in the queue.

Of course they could do more than 1 thing at a time but consider that as of 6 months ago PGI didn't have that many people to do that!

appr. # PGI devs: 45

appr. # Blizzard devs: 4000

Big difference huh? If we were playing WOW and talking about this I would agree - but we're not.

Lots of people like achievements to (I guess) see how they're doing. I think a better achievement is looking at your Match Score and keeping that high. This is a team game right? If I just unlocked my 50 component destruction achievement but my match score was 25 and I only did 75 points of damage - would you feel good? Nope - you let the team down!

lol yes, mine will rocket skywards because of the wipe as will my win/lose ratio, I am alittle unhappy though as I was enjoying grafting my big early fails into something great.

Games fallen into stat warrior like so many all ready are, to please the people that need to have ego's stroked.

Time would have been better used to add the loyalty system, with unit and camo options unlocked than forum achievements

I suppose it can be considered a step forward in the form of sideways content as it has no impact on the arena battles we have at the moment.

This is sarcasm right, about how pointless stats are ?

Just asking as all my victors have a K/D of over 2 and I'm only an average player.

Hope this demonstrates why, open public stats and achievements, are dumb and just cause arguments.

I'd love to have stats to show how many of a mech model I've killed. Event at a high level....(killed 100 catapults). And stats on which mechs are killing my mechs.

This is the only reason with any point, to do the wipe and use a different system to look privately at how you do on a personal level against various mech types

To all the posters that are complaining about "Losing their Stats"...your previous stats will just be archived and will still be accessible to you...So you can go see if they match up once you build up your new stats....Yaaayyy you.. B)

To the posters complaining about the ELO not being "revamped" first....even when they reset the ELO to the proposed 3 tier setting (if they do) it will only change things for a limited amount of time (except for the people who have inflated KDR etc.) ...If you are really good you will end up in the high ELO bracket playing the same people you are now...If you are really mediocre you will end up in the average ELO and will be playing the people you are now...You get the picture...

The rewards were mentioned in a NGNG podcast...hopefully the rewards match the achievements and aren't to great or too useless.. :D

From my understanding ELO is just a number, it doesn't consider number of matches played. When calculating new ELO the old ELO, result from last match and the players ELO in that match is put into a formula. It's no "average" since ELO was implemented, and "good" players now turning "casual" isn't "trapped" in high ELO-bracket. They will fall down to correct ELO after a while.
A reset of ELO would do nothing. After some time, depending on how the parameters are set, every player will return to the old ELO.

Would rather see time invested in community warfare and user defined drop settings.... not more cloning of call of duty.

I hope the April date sticks for CW. Getting burned out.

I heard April 29th for community warfare. They are being hush hush about it though so who knows. Hopefully it introduces user defined game drops so leagues can begin and do 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 etc.

Time will tell... maybe they'll put out another useless map pack instead.

People, the problem with the stats wipe is it is a lie.

I played my 9 000 games, I have my hard earned KDR (good or bad - but it is truly mine), I made my 9 000 kills. It was a big time for me.

Now, SUDDENLY, somebody comes out and says: "Hello, it's all will be wiped out. Have a good time! Thank you!"

Thank you for letting me know 1 day beforehand!

But - you know what - I don't want my "100 games" and "first 10 kills" achievement anymore. Because it's a lies.

Eh, if I'm shooting at someone and someone else is shooting at my target and happens to get the kill, I'm generally thrilled, especially in a PUG drop, because it means someone was paying attention to what I'm shooting at and helping out. It also means that we both can move on to the next target that much quicker.

Edit: Also, looking forward to seeing what the rewards will be and how they will be structured.

Yeah man.....1 enemy death means us vs (them-1). I dunno why people bother soo much about KS in a team based game.

And most the time this is the scenario:

Chuck Norris Wanna Be Dude: Dude, wtf, why did you KS my target!!!!!
Suspected KS dude: sorry man.....I'm trying to help out (can't really tell the enemy HP anyway)
Chuck Norris Wann Be Dude: 4ssh0l3!!!!
Suspected KS dude: geez sorry....

next few minutes...

Chuck Norris Wanna Be Dude: YOU F**K**G NOOB B*ST*RD WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOOT HIM!!!!!!
Earlier Suspected KS dude: but that's your target man, u said not to kill if its yours..
Chuck Norris Wanna Be Dude: I'M DEAD YOU M*RON, ITS YOUR FAULT, NOW THE TEAM IS DEFINiTELY GONNA LOSE!!!!
Earlier Suspected KS dude (or most normal rational player):......... (kids......)

PGI,

Honestly, if the game went "live" last fall then how can one justify wiping stats? The game is already live right? Blizzard launched an achievement system as well back in the day but they did not wipe my hard earned stats, and though it could not account for everything I had done prior to the achievement system Blizzard still gave me credit, and the achievements, justified by the stats that were tracked up to that point.

I'm continually angered and entertained by the hubris that this development team demonstrates on a monthly basis.

PGI is a punchline in discussions about terrible game development among my friends. It is difficult to find another company that has taking such a promising IP and game and demonstrate such poor judgement so often and at nearly every opportunity. Less you think I'm being unfair checkout gaming blogs and articles in the gaming community and you will find that my opinion is widely shared.

Because they think one of those numbers makes them a good player. Let me tell you that the opposite is true in most cases.

Often they show the incapability for teamplay and/or are some attention divas/drama queens that got kicked out of the real good competitive teams soon enough.

This is why I strongly suggest to keep stats away from the public screens it may backfire in a bad way. As even more people will stop playing in a way that is good for their team but in a way that is good for their numbers. Thus creating even more bad players.

playing in a way that gets you more kills and less death IS good for your team...maybe it will cause some to take pride in their name...and play like it matters instead of mass suiciding lol

I really don't care. I already have two sets of stats that are different because the advanced stats came late and still the overall stats were kept back in the days. So in a way it's also good thing.

Does stats matter...most of the time I joined a PUG match session.....I may be good or I may be bad...but bottomline everyone in my team stuck with me for the duration of the battle.

As for more good player or more bad player......from marketing point of view or business or whatever.......more player is always better :D.

Anyway as of KDR....its not that hard... you can only have a maximum of 1 death per match but max 12 kill per match. Or be a light mech jock (i hate them) and play 100% that capture the base session..that should keep a high positive KDR. lol
