Right now, getting close to a meta victor/highlander doesn't negate the advantage that they have at 600m; they're just as good up close. Now, they're not as good close up, so if you can get in near, you might actually win.
That said, I run my 9S with an AC20 and SRMs, so this is pretty disappointing to me :|
Same idea here - My Victors were used more for mid-range work and brawling since, in the past, the arm-mounted weapons + jump jets made them quite good at that. Now, well... I'm not so sure, though the hit to them clearly messes up their brawling far more than their jump sniping ability. It's a pain since I didn't buy them for jump sniping - I just wanted an Assault Mech that was not doomed to roll around the bottom of canyons and so forth forever.
