This is my brawler Jager-S. While other people opt for firepower and speed, I went for sustained damage and survivability:

JM6-S "Jakkaloken"

My reasoning for this 'Mech is being able to do both the direct firesupport role to a modest degree and still be able to take a punch or two thou not much more then that.

I used the standard default engine as XL engines in brawling is outright suicide in most situations. As for the AMS I put it on for the sake of the LRM spamming currently going on. If this lessens in the future I'll ditch the AMS and add more engine power so I can reach something like ~ 80 kph.

I've tried to mix/match various types of AC5/ac2/UAC5 but not to much avail as I either run out of ammunition or get my arms poped off early in the match. The best combination I've had so far is the AC5/MG's.

Let the rants of my wrong-doings...Begin!

You can run the same build minus one heatsink if you use ferro and a 275. I run something very similar but without machine guns.

I've really come to love the MGs on my Jagers. My -DD is rolling with twin AC10s and 4 MGs, and is reliably brutal. Especially a little bit into the game when people are losing armor, just sit back and watch those components fall off. :)

I just bought an S model and I was running a Gauss rifle, but didn't care for it. Now trying this http://mwo.smurfy-ne...64120c8c5c76b26 Seems to be doing okay so far, not great, but okay. I definitely need more practice with it.

Maybe swap all of those ERPPCs and ERLLS for 4 LLs? Just pair them up on two weapon groups, with the MGs as a third group. A little fire control goes a long way here - fire half the large lasers, pause, fire the other half, and you'll avoid the ghost heat. And the MGs you can just let rip.

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of the extra heat from ERLLs, and in the Jager I'd think those lower hard points will limit your extreme range opportunities.

I've been running a similar Battlemaster build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...adaa38d4a84f876 with good results.
