It always puzzles me, just like described in topic:

Switching DX11 or AUTO in video settings is a bit magic to me, because after SAVE, when I look it seems it goes back to DX9.
When I restart the game I am back in DX9 mode, same goes to AA modes.
Oh, and my user.cfg file is null-empty.
Never edited any .cfg files till tonight, but when I tried it seems there is no effect whatsoever.
Clues?

ASUS MATRIX GF580GTX PLAT as my standard engine here.

You got the memo about going back to the log-in page for the change to stick, right?

Hi there,
you could try putting " r_Driver = dx11 " into your systemoverride.cfg and setting it to read only... I know that worked for me before, or try the MWORepair tool... Hope that helps.

Run the repair, select in the options to delete the systemoverride.cfg this has fixed the problem for others.

Thanks for above replies fellow founding pilots!

I run the repair tool, it fixed some shader, removed unused files, didn't download anything. It also cleared that override file.

Run the game, tried to switch to DX11, restarting game, same problem... back at DX9.

Okay so I try to systemoverride.cfg to DX11 and TSAA to 1 others to 0 and set file to read-only.

Run the game, and I see DX9 is selected as current and PostAA... ;)

Ideas?

;) wtf. others are saying they cant get postAA turned off. I have a feeling that they have a cfg file buried in one of their .pak files that is causing this. but were not suppose to go there :D

Try this

Quote

Actually, you do need to install Directx 9c. Vista/7/8 comes with DX 10/11 and a base version of dx9. The issue is that MS does not include all the latest modules for dx 9c, nor are the DX10/11 backward compatible. Even a fresh XP install will require DX 9c installation for those updated modules.

DX 10/11 and DX 9c are located in their own subfolders, they do not overwrite each other. Programs and games are set to locate the necessary files from their respective location.

MWO currently utilizes ONLY dx9c files, thus the need to install dx 9c with either the dxsetup.exe (small file that downloads everything from MS) or the redistribution file (large file but useful if installing on several machines or need to reinstall to replace possible corrupted files).

http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=8109

Or

http://www.microsoft...ails.aspx?id=35

You will notice that it supports more than just XP.

Most games that come on a CD/DVD will also have a setup to install the updated modules by using one of the paths. For other games that are download only, they direct you to MS to download (using that site's bandwidth instead of their own) and perform the installation, from a trusted source ( hehe Microsoft..: )

Okay, he hijacked my thread  remember me? now I am still stuck at DX9 although I have DX11 libraries installed and happily play other DX11 games  Disregard PostAA being stuck somehow, but DX9, why? I hate that green smoke in heat vision mode  I wanna switch to DX11

… "Reinstall" is all I've got. Reinstall your nVidia driver with DDU, and think about reinstalling the game, after-words …

Good luck.

Ahhh the green smoke problem.

culprit looks to be r_FogShadows = 1, disable that line in your cfg and see if that fixes the green fog for you. this cfg below fixed the green fog for me. put r_FogShadows = 0 in your user cfg

Huh: "r_FogShadows = 0" has been a basic performance tweak since time immortal, and is off when the Shadows slider is medium or less … until you get to "ultra-max," according to Col. Pada's research …
