No it doesn't (and I did not fail match up the the nth grade). The score is built up from only the best 10 matches of 50 players for all teams, so if you divide all 500 scores by 50 (matches actually played) then you still have the same ranking. By the "other" logic, if only one Liao player played the tournament and only played 1 match and obtained 30 points (accidentally fired a MG at an opponent, ran back to base and the team won) then he would have the best average of all teams. I think you'll agree that this does not make much sense.

You do not know the scores of all matches minus the 50 so you cannot draw any conclusion, perhaps only that some teams needed less matches to arrive at their scores (but didn't win anyway). In the Davion/Steiner comparison you can say, however, that Davion didn't try hard enough as they played 16 matches less per player than Steiner?

I deliberately choose Lone Wolves, expecting less competition. Hey, it's my first ever only tournament in any game... I would have ended up ~25-30th in Liao and >50 in Steiner. That Steiner played much better is underscored by this little fact alone. So, my match place didn't start in the mechlab but at faction selection.... I just should have chosen Liao (I like the green logo) but really couldn't care less about factions

So perhaps our dear tournament overlords can release a total ranking so that you can see that the winning teams are really crowding the top of the list and the loosing teams aren't... (this is a verbal translation of: winning teams have higher average...)

Luckily my faction won (check)
Now I get my faction banner (che...) Hey, wait! Where is the faction banner? Did I miss something?

You don't but they will be on sale for so much longer. There is no winners announcement yet and I didn't get my 1.6k MC yet either.
Like the past few tournaments it will all come with the next "patch" e.g. when the sale ends.

There is no official announcement yet. No winner declared. Therefore no prizes provided.
This is why you don't have your banner yet. The top players haven't gotten their mc's either.

You may wait till end of the week hopefully they announce the winners until than and you will get your rewards.

Well, allright. Let's wait and see. I was just wondering. The Gazelle Cockpit Item was received instantly. I thought a faction win would trigger the banner automatically as well.

Saturday morning I was in 12th place and watched my self slowly slide down. I originally had around 1900 some points. Once I hit 2048 I couldn't get my score up much higher. The word "patch" in Eglar's post may have been confusing for some. He meant the maintenance period wich happens every tuesday and friday at 10am PDT. That's the time when they put up new sales and inject stuff into user accounts.
