Create a climate where being in a group is discouraged or made a hassle.
Hold a tournament where there is no benefit to having a loyalty to any faction other than 'faction pride'
Act "surprised" that the bulk of your players are Lone Wolf in their faction affiliation
Use this metric to 'prove' that Community Warfare isn't something that the majority of your players want.

Enjoy your Esport.

Insidious I tell ya simply insidious.

I'm bemused that you think the best high scores are done in a group drop. But simply this once more proves the crying ignorance of the ever mourning solo pugs.

Let me tell you that a good pilot gets the best high scores when he has the luck to land in a pug match where both teams suck near equally and you can harvest them!

And stop telling the lie that having an unfair advantage in a team game is the main reason to team oriented players. We have been asking for equal distribution and size of premades on both teams again and again. So how is this unfair? Most of us would even be fine with a seperate solo queue just to get rid of those pugs. Cry at PGI to get your solo only queue. There you can go and hunt for all those poor noob players in their champion mechs, and then feel proud about beating them easyly in an unfair battle thanx to your fully buffed out mechs.

The social team oriented players do not seek an unfair advantage, they want to play with their friends.
The competitive team oriented players do not seek an unfair advantage, they want a challange and seek for good opponents.
It is the cadet stalking, statwhoring puggers that seek an unfair advantage, and therefore cry all the time in fear if there is something that could hinder their foul play from time to time.

I think it is unfair to all those team oriented players that we can not play with our friends because of some egocentric solo puggers who would rather cry themselfes to death than let others have something they do not.

Thanx for ruining our game, I just hoped you would have stayed hiding in your throne room or played MW2-4 solo instead of destroying the "Online" of Mechwarrior Online.

This warrior get it fully.

Because, you do better most of the time if you are on a team. It excludes all the people who just play solo. If everyone plays solo, it puts everyone on equal footing and it just comes down to pilot skill not 4 man VTR and HGN teams.

You do realize that to have a top tourney score you have to practically carry the entire team by yourself? Like 1200+ damage, 7-8 kills etc. Its much HARDER to do it in a good 4-man group, as usually all 4 contribute more or less equally.

Because the launch module will allow people to run matches of any size and with almost any limitations they want. That is exactly what teams are looking for. The whole launch module is ALL about making team play more viable.

So yes, teams between 1-12 people will be able to form up and run, just like you're asking for.

As long as they are paying real money for it ...
While solo PUGs can PUG for free ...

Still posting this from your alt account eh ?

If you follow these the tournies... Notice it is always the same people at the top.. Over and over again ?
Do not make light of these peoples effort... Go ahead and challenge the top 10 to 1v1, once private matches are In..

That should answer your question whether they are more skillfull than you and whether they deserve to be up there. :)

#1. No I don't follow the tourneys. I just saw the results of the last one (medium tournament) and talked to two people in game about how many games they played. Lets just say it was more than ten.

#2. Read the post again. Read it once more. Ok got it? Where did I personally attack anyone? Are my comments on the number of games played by some of the winners an attack? My complaint about the format of the tournament and how it rewards "grinding" your way to ten good games is not an attack on any player. If you have the time to throw in 20, 50, 100 matches in 3 days then good on you. Some people do not have that much free time and I applaud you for having it.

#3. If you feel it is an attack on you, it has more to do with you and not my post. There are a lot of references to "You" and "I" in your post. I never referred to anyone. Maybe you need to talk to someone about this.

I don't think anyone doubts that top 10 people actually deserve it. But I also don't think that anyone doubts that if between two equally skilled players one playes 20 games and another playes 120 games, the latter will be ranked higher with 99% probability.

Don't mind Shin. He thinks that every single streak launcher he sees on any mech in game is a personal attack on him.

While I consider myself PGI's White Knight, it sound both plausible and scary at the same time. But on the other hand - CW isn't something they could wiggle out of without tanking the game, so I'll still think it'll get here.

I would certainly think so, if it on an enemy mech.. As a light mech pilot I certainly do hate streaks. Weird analogy.

Not going to bother with the dude above he isn't brave enough to post such comments on his primary account...
If he wants to whine anonymously, he can proceed to do so..

Maybe he doesn't realise that only way you can get into the top 10 is to get >=7 kills + High damage x 10 matches. Not too many people can do this, even if they wanted to on a tournament weekend.
Anyway... Internet tourny and there is sooo many variables... Need not be taken seriously... The top pilots know who the top pilots as already....

Myself I was only interested in beating Edmister and badkilik in the ladder a few times till I had to quit. :D

Yep, my sons are disappointed that we can't drop together. My youngest isn't interested, he gets lost solo. Doesn't feel very "Faction"ey. Feels like "Grind Ogrimmar rep!"

BattleTech guys, c'mon now, eye on the ball.

How does it matter if being in a 4-man doesn't give me any advantage in terms of tourney scores? I'm not saying that 4-mans and solo players should compete in same category ... but being in a premade makes it harder to score better using the current tourney score system. Your original statement that ...

Don't hate the weapon, hate the developers who make a no-skill weapon super effective. Same with Streaks, same with LRMs.

Well, this being the first event ever (at least during the time I've played) that faction made any difference led my small group to finally decide who will we be fighting for.

There were definite "NO"s to Steiner, Davion and Rasalhague, and in the end we all settled to take Liao colors.

I do have plans for the weekend but hope to contribute something for the greens anyway. Good luck all! :D

are there categories for each mech type, or is it best score period, regardless of mech? not sure why im bothering to ask. i barely participated in the last contest due to the solo drop req. im sure it will be the same for this contest. get tired of solo after 4-5 games of lemmings in a barrel, and go back to playing with my friends.

The "Top Pilots" are the ones willing to grind out 10 Perfect Matches over 100+ matches in 2 days.

These Tournaments have been more a game of Endurance then Skill. Not to mention that both teams need to be newb loaded so you can wreck face while not having ANYONE else do work.

(This in no way is meant to take away skill from the top players, instead give them FURTHER congrats on epic Endurance.)

I'll maybe get 15-20 matches in on the weekend.

ggclose. :D

Read a tad further. They stated that it doesn't matter what "tag" you wear into combat. It's the faction you're associated with at the start of the challenge that sticks. You can change to whatever house, lonewolf, mercorps, etc., after the challenge starts.

Good hunting all <o

o7 -- left handed salute?!?!
<o -- right handed salute =]

You, good sir, have hit the nail on the head and then some !! Personally, I could care less about stats or the new system. I think your overall XP per match speaks volumes more than your K:D ratio /shrug

While true, it still takes a top pilot to extract the sweet nectar from a double noob group.
