I've been between 30 and 50 kills of getting my kdr to 1.0 for the last six months or so. as soon as I get it to the 30 side I've mastered that set of mechs and go on to the next et- suddenly i'm back to 50 again. you'd think i'd just stick with one mech for a day or two but dammit that's a x2 xp bonus win to something unmastered i'm throwing away! :)

still got griffins, panthers, enforcers and a locust yet to go oh and blunderbolts and battlemasters but I really don't like them. (except the battlemaster 1S- it's a good LRM boat). so naturally i'm thinking of starting commandos.

You sound like me, except for the almost 1.00 KDR thing. I can't seem to get through a chassis before I start the next one, I am such a mech hoarder.

I agree that grinding is, and always has been, a major issue with these leaderboards. The other big problem is that the overall ELO of each game is not taken into account into the scoring. However where I disagree is the assertion that the leaderboards only reflect how much time someone has. If that was the case then the top players would simply be those who grind the most, yet in most cases they reflect players who typically carry/top score in regular games.

Take for example the worthy adversaries leaderboard you mentioned. You finished 5th in the clan heavy division but look at the other players; in the top 10 you have Cico, Celyth, Gman, Delta Spectra, Sun Cobra, UBCSlayer, and Aresye. Then just outside you also have Rip and Bob Jenkins. That is a pretty damn tough list of players. None of them were there just because they had a lot of time, they got there because they were good AND had enough time to play.

Winning a leaderboard comes down to three things 1) being good 2) having time to play enough games 3) having some degree of luck. The fact there is no cap to the grinding does give an advantage to those who play excessively but at the end of the day the top players generally are the better players. Of course there are always exceptions, especially when you have a lot of leaderboards/divisions in a short time with some divisions lacking much competition.

It should be pointed out that not everyone just grinds games out, and it really wasn't hard to place on any of the recent leaderboards with only 40-50 games. I only played 52 games to get 1st place in the Loup de Guerre division (http://i.imgur.com/hhNnsxy.png -> I incorrectly stated before it was 58) which was a brand new mech for me. Now this was quite a weak division and there are very few good SRM players around nowadays but the point stands that I was able to get 3480 points with just over 4 hours of gameplay. That hardly seems excessive considering the events now run for 5 days (something I don't really like). Psichih0llic posted a score of over 4000 in his Hellbringer with just 1 day of playing, and now is over 5000 after 2. He is just that damn good.

As for the lack of comp players, I completely agree there too. Being part of the top teams doesn't necessarily mean being one of the top individual players but there are at least 10-20 guys who didn't drop who could have easily challenged for top 5 spots in the competitive divisions. Across the recent 5 events there have been a lot of good players participating, but it still would have been fun to see guys like Proton and Eglar back in the mix. The grind time is an issue though and not everyone likes to compete in junk mechs either.

You make some good points but imo time played is still the biggest factor. For example in solo queue or a standard 1v1 yourself, psycho, psi, mister d etc will outskill and rek me in any mech with relative ease while i still was able to place above players that are far above any 4 20 members in skill. Purely because i had so much time to play during worthy adversaries.

Timmy pilots. Timmys always stepping in front of your shots. Always charging up to five feet like timmy is gonna try to mele (newsflash petri dish: once you are under max range for your weapon you dont get any more damage out of it)

Do you remember when your parents were saying the EXACT same thing about the music you listened to? Don't get me wrong, I agree, but considering that it's been this way, every year, since we could bang on rocks, I find it funny.

you are right but still, musicianship went really down the drain. its all computer programmed crap now. back then it was still mainly played with instruments and it was succesfull.

does one song really need 7 producers and 5 songwriters to be succesfull?? its all namedropping. thats how it currently goes. and that sickens me. bands i listed still done their own music. played their own music and the been on airplay as they deserved it.

I was about to complain about the fact that I faced 8+ Dragon 1N's with 2x AC/5 (Might as well be RAC's at that speed) per wave in a community warfare match last night, but f*ck complaining, I'm going to do something about it.

AC/5's are an excellent medium range weaponry for suppressive fire. How do you get around this?

SRM's.
Lots, and lots of SRM's.
You run in to the Dragon running AC/5's, and you hug it with SRM's until it crumbles into dust.

I now have:
Nova with small lasers (low heat, high damage, low cooldown, good for close-in fights)
Maddog w/6x A-SRM-6's (and backup weapons)
Timberwolf w/4x A-SRM-6's (and backup weapons)
Stormcrow w/5x A-SRM-6's (and a backup ER large)

I'd like to see a dragon get past THAT.

Ive just about had it up to my fracking eyeballs with these morons who report their team mates positions at the end of a match. Ive had several matches today where i or another guy being the last guy standing and had some ******* on my team either report my position while they were still hunting them out, or, when i was heavily damaged and shutdown waiting for them to walk past me so i could open up on their backs

Its one of the things that really pisses me off with this game

Its such a dog act

If you think its "wasting your time" go and get another mech

One defense mechanism I have is immediately telling the team right as I power down. Even then, some moron would reveal my location, but it happens less often than if I don't tell the team.

I usually end up typing "I am hiding to ambush them", pressing CTRL+A, then CTRL+C, and then mashing the "Y" and CTRL+V keys to make sure the message keeps repeating until the entire team gets it.

Still amazes me that there are people that think the Elo system in this game is great and works well. It is a system that punishes players for even being halfway decent at the game. There is nothing good about a mm that plays with loaded dice and fills your team with ******** giving you **** all chance of winning.

I am so concerned wih my .45 KDR that I keep it a secret while I hide in the shadows at the edge of the match...

Or is it I have a .45 KDR because I drive small mechs and I don't have enough discipline to stay out of the middle of the brawl?

After a few hours of kicking in the skulls of Smoke Kittens and some nail-biting, last-man-standing, edge-of-your-seat drops against the Dav-Rats, real life had to jump in and say "Hey time to go to work and be a responsible adult" If it weren't for the laws of physics and rent payments I'd be unstoppable. *grumble mutter*

How are we this far into the game and people still cant grasp simple concepts like berm drills and using cover? Nope just stupid glazed over zombies mulishly plodding forward chanting push.

Do me a favor, if I'm in your match STAY THE **** AWAY FROM MY BACK. kthnxbye
