>enemy poptart is moving towards him, announce it
>our poptart keeps failing to lock him for more than 1 second, i had LRMs and could have provided support fire
>our poptart dies
Proof that using metabuilds is no definition of actual skill....

Played about 8-10 matches all losses,6 artillery strikes from one side in one match, more LRMs than when they first got uber-buffed,and teams that cored me from the rear doing more damage than the enemy.
At this point a hula girl is not worth the pugging.

You know why there isn't an equivalent epithet for missiles? Because playing missiles is boring!

Anyway, we're referring to how hovering the mouse over the "Play Now" button pops up a chart suggesting "For shorter wait times use LIGHT 'Mechs", or sometimes "...MEDIUM 'Mechs".
No mate, not being sarcastic, justa little slow on the uptake on the following:
"What's actually happening is that your Elo for your medium mechs is closer to the average Elo of the queue than your heavy or assault Elo is."
Sorry, probably being REALLY dense but I'm not sure I understand this bit?
Oh Kjudoon, I see that kind of behaviour so often....
Raised, exposed area? check!
Can get shot from multiple directions? Check!
Poor escape options? Check!
Excellent line of retreat for enemy? check!
Poor angles of attack for your indirect fire support? Check!
LET'S GO THAR!!!!!!! *drools slowly onto the floor*

Oh, yeah, that's sort of the mathy technical thing. There's several threads in the depths of the forums about that, but to summarize here (as I understand it): Each of your mech categories has an "Elo" score telling the matchmaker how well you're doing, rising if your team wins against top players and dropping if your team loses against noobs. So, each player has 4 Elo scores: Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault. You choose a mech and go searching for a match. If your Elo for that mech's category is close to everybody else waiting for a match, then the matchmaker can put together a team quickly for you. If that Elo is far away from that average, the matchmaker is less likely to instantly have 23 other players of close Elo to make a quick match.
Note, I'm assuming here that the majority of players waiting for a match is usually a cluster of at least 23 and have similar Elo scores, with a bell curve of less players who have good and bad Elo scores (which isn't necessarily the case).
For loopala, his low wait-times for his YLW suggests he has a relatively average Elo for his medium category (relative to most others who are playing at the time, bad or good). Assumably, he performs earth-shatteringly awesome or tear-drippingly embarrassing in his heavies and assaults (or possibly more accurately, has gotten lucky or unlucky teams while in heavies and assaults) which could put his Elo for those categories far away from the matchmaker queue average.
It gets kind of complex when to guess if the queue average is (not necessarily) the global average. Whether or not the online players actually have a bell curve to their Elo distribution. Long wait-times causes high or low Elo scores to be matched equivalent to a middle Elo score. Et cetera. This is kind of wordy and could've easily been more wordy.

Or you have awkward timing.
There are times I wait for a match to show up (alt-tab into the forums....)
Next drop (or more frequently - wait a minute before trying - which tends to result in quicker averages) in the same chassis - instant drop.

A graph of the queue would be like a sawtooth wave. It'd suck to keep clicking on the valleys. (math is fun!)

There's also the issue that MWO's Elo is only very loosely related to individual skill. (Or sometimes some players are excellent at one strategy, but terrible at another. Etc.)

Well, then there's that. I got about 15% okay games and only 5% truly fun games when I kept count last week. For me, that measly 5% is still good enough for now.

I'm glad it is, for me it's frustrating beyond belief. I don't have to win-I just want a good game.
Being spammed with lrms every match, being outweighed every match, being out camped and out arty/airstrike spammed.......ugh......
My fun comes from light mechs now. I gave up on mediums fully earlier. Too many overweight mechs floating about to truly enjoy them. At least in a light I'm not so reliant on other people:)

>tell them not to bottleneck and charge
>they ignore me
>they camp inside the tunnel
>meanwhile we are losing points
>i go out of the tunnel via another exit with another mech and try to flank the enemy mechs guarding the tunnel exit
>i take down a battlemaster
>full hp enemy jager boating ballistics shows up in my face
>i barely manage to out dps him, am almost dead though
>the friendly mech that exited the tunnel with me is suddenly nowhere to be seen
>my team is still inside the tunnel, refusing to support me even though they know im right outside fighting
>die and spectate them
>they are just standing still in the tunnel, not even moving, not firing or anything, just standing still
>i tell them they should have helped
>one guy starts blaming me for "charging"
>we are still losing points
So...who was it that said that people are making an effort to play better because of the faction challenge?

So people may not be losing on purpose but they would not be playing their best either.

Selfishness and bad teamwork out dakkas 'better' play. Oh... congrats on being better on the bad play this weekend.

When he has 2-3 team mates protecting him and he's camping underground he is god.
Nevermind ghost heat, PGI put some kind of weapon limit in place. That "person" was glibly gloating in chat promoting his youtube channel, no doubt laughing his socks off oneshotting 50 ton mediums.
Why is PGI putting mechanics in place that allows people with that kind of mentality to gloat and deride others via their "builds?"
PP alpha spikes are ruining the game, can we try something else other than ghost heat now please?
