dude i have to buy dunken donuts coffee at sam's club (closest sam's club is 100 miles away) just to get good coffee. although McDonald's coffee is just the second best as Holiday has the the best...

but then i do live in big snow county were it is a fight just to get to the car somedays

PGI must hate me as they gave me the hunch back pack last year when i bought mc and these things are driving me nuts!! oh well probably just me and i have not hit upon the magic combo for me yet.

then i used to really suck at atlases were now i just suck a little.

OTH since i bought the urbie collectors pack i now have 2 cn9ahs to play with so i can outfit them the same and play back to back backstabbing mechs when i am feeling evil or have just had enough of stormcrows killing my locusts. for some reason the ah seems to kill stormcrows better then any other mech i own

I get you, I am about 40 miles to Walmart to buy anything. And we get some lake effects off of Erie, but not like you guys up there in almost Canada.

I made a thread to talk about the need or not for the solo queue considering the inclusion of voip and lfg tools. Seems like several solo militants have popped on and are sabre rattling, spouting off already. I have already had to ask twice for it to be on topic but they won't listen, one even resorting to namecalling >.>

What is it with the solo militants? What is their issue? They must see my thread as an attack (it really isn't) and are pro actively attempting the derail of it.They seem hell bent on protecting their special little corner of MMo gaming....why?
One guy even cross linked to another subject that is different to what I wanted people to discuss, followed by an aggressive abusive follow up..
They already have something I have never seen in 15 years of online gaming....a SOLO only queue, a special place to be shielded from having to work with others. WHY be so aggressive when people try to discuss it? Is it really a need, or merely a want?

This is only semi-related (as I have avoided those discussions)

But every single game I have ever played that had voip, the voip made the game near unplayable.
The other players made the game unplayable for me.

I have been told many times that there are ways around that, and that the "best" games have them.
I have yet to play one that did.

So I (personally) oppose voip as a built in feature.

Other people are going to be more vocal in their call for it (or against it)
And when you get vocal people you get people that are very much not on the same page as everyone else.
(A large part of why I avoid those discussions - as I tend to be one of those only vaguely (at best) on the same page )

Aye true. I've had to pop on again and ask again things stay on topic. It does seem to be the solo guys shouting the loudest though, why can't they discuss rather than diss?

Why won't people take advantage when the opportunity presents itself?

Forest: The usual LRM exchange. I notice two teammates standing at the first island shooting at a Firestarter that is at the bow of the ship. 3 min later they are still doing the same and the Firestarter has now been joined by a Timberwolf. I get the bright ideá to kill the Firestarter to free two mechs up so to speak. I stomp pass them as they huddle at the island round the bow and manage to put the Firestarter down, then I exchange fire with the Timberwolf. Now my Shadowhawk isn't looking so good but the opponent is a bit banged up too.

No problem, I decide to back off behind the ship and wait for the two guys at the Island, surely they'll come now that it's 3 vs 1.

Wrong! They are still huddling at the island. I decide to throw them to the wolf and help the part of the team up at the cave but when I arrive we are on the backfoot and well, that's it.

Duluth MN is the closest to me over here as far west as you can go and still be in MI. Ironwood right next to Hurley WI were 51 ends and the fun begins. Or so the sign used to say.

Today's daily whine:

Tourmaline Desert, on the 6-line. 10 allies mulling around the defensible position, with 4 enemies moving in from the side.
I see a mediocre Kitfox, and an LRM5+Artemis x4 Catapult. So I go in to neutralize the poorly outfitted Catapult that's closing in. Wolverine and a 2nd Kitfox show up on the other side. I end up taking all four on myself (3 to be fair, since the Catapult is stupid enough to fire LRMs within the dud-range), thinking that at least a few of the allies sitting just meters away will help.

Nope. Not even one shot fired in support. Apparently, everyone was too busy shoving thumbs up each others' arses.

Ended up getting triple-teamed to death. Allies died quickly following my demise.


Fast-forward 30 minutes:
Terra Therma. Team decides to reenact medieval infantry warfare by balling up and slamming into the enemy ball.
Trades are made 1:1. They miraculously come out on top; score of 7 to 6. Some fool chimes in, berating how indefensible Mt. Doom is, while complimenting how "smart" it was to splatter-charge the enemy. Mind you, he's already dead by this point. Real smart.

We end up trading a few more people in the scattered mop-up process until we're down to the last guy. We spend a few minutes looking, pass through center. Mr. "pro" is still mouthing off about how bad Mt. Doom is as a defensible position, all the while implying how "noobish" anyone who uses it, is.

Suddenly the Atlas behind me decides to turn around and go back to center (when the KC, Hunch, and I are already 3/4ths of the way to the other door). We find out it's a 100% DW, who summarily kills the Atlas who is foolishly dueling him with only 60% health.

The Hunchback foolishly solo engages the DW bc he's the fastest of the remaining 3. He gets mowed down fast, doing negligible damage.

Now the KC & I arrive. I go in first, bc I'm less hurt and I figure the KC has more firepower than me, so I run distraction. I do as much damage as I can, but the DW is by far superior in firepower & armor, and quickly kills me despite my attempts at twisting.

Seems most large mechs have stupid hitboxes that almost always expose their CT. The KC... didn't seem to lend much firepower during my distraction, bc the DW at no point seemed damaged or shaken by any other fire than my own.

Needless to say, we lost. Another match in the 80% lose pile (and yet the matchmaker still gives me a KDR of over 1).

CW match last night, 60 pts of damage NON spread into left ST of a Firestarter at around 30m range. Result? Yellow armour. Firestarter killed me from fresh CT cored with....mgs......it took FIVE mechs to kill him.
