people b*tching about LRMs in a match, but they will do NOTHING about the LRM boat.....

When you walk up, stop in the open 450m from the LRM boat and don't bother to shoot UAVs...yes, then LRMs are a problem...

but if you use cover, SHOOT THE DAMN UAVS, and close the distance with the LRM boat, then no, they aren'ta peoblem


bizarre the psyop power LRMs have over some players....they see a single enemy LRM salvo in the air, and their brain stops working and they freeze in place

A simple and unsatisfactory answer, for the laws of averages PGI seems to go by the fact that the player base is a gaussian bell curve and that the player population and skill level fallows it , but the thing is that only the "upper" elo scores feel competant. I don't know the numbers, only PGI does but a parallel can be drawn to SC2 and LoL , where the ladder system has many divides but really it's all about the top most 2 brackets, master grandmaster, diamond challanger , all other ladder brackets can be entered using a gimmick or by playing a lot and having luck ( and, well some skill no matter how specialised ) .

Point being the MWO population over all regions would be something like ( pulling it out of my back side, but still a personal estimation ) ~250 elite players , 1500 good players and a bunch of everything else. It is very rare that even 50% of those good and elite all being online at the same time and waiting in que for a game , PGI decided that for short waiting times it is best to create games with an elo score closest to the mid of the bell curve as that's the place with the most players....

And so we have what we have, instead of MM trying to sample the wait que , cut it in to portions of high , mid and low virtual " buckets ", and mix only those of the same bucket, pulling from the next one only if the wait is long, it has one bucket where the target elo is lower than needed to ensure all participants being competant , so for every elite and good player there needs to be one or more lower end players to make the average of the group as close to the mid elo score as possible ...

So as always , its about quality of games vs wait time, and as PGI stated , the higher the elo of a game the more stompy it becomes, as most good 12 games end up, little chance to recover after the first or second mech lost.

WTF is wrong with this game not only does it run like a dogs dinner on my new laptop which quite happily runs other games on high detail but now i'm re-installing it on my desktop as i was having lots of problems but come to re download it and its crawling along a what feels like AOL dial up speed.

Thought a pending Windows update was buggering things up so restarted the computer twice trying to redownload it now after clearing the old files away and it went quick at first but has now dropped back to a crawl. It wants about two more hours and i'm on fibre optic!

Think this game is just buggered.

Had a random pug-match where the other team managed to keep a steady flow of UAVs up.

(My weapons could not hit them, due to being mostly torso mounted)

If I was not on the team with the most unit tags in the solo queue, I lost... in gruesome fashion.

the first time i had Rip Snorgan mention me in a game he had just bumped into me having a great game in an lct1m aka the littlest lrm boat. i had found the reds and evaded incoming fire while tagging and lrming them under my uav on tourmaline. i was really in the groove.

next game he gave me a shout out and i was one shotted in the first 2 minutes.

never easy shooting friends but then i get paid to do the hard stuff

tonight...most unit tags or not...I lost...because every single team for 20 games straight was scared to even find the enemy, let alone shoot at or get shot by the enemy...

its unbelievable... makes you wonder if these people know that even if the mech they are in gets destroyed..it magically gets fixed back in the mech lab so you can use it again....

yep armor is there to be used. if i finish a match in an assault with over 50% i feel bad. an assault is meant to take damage. cn9 that still has a left arm, unheard of. but i tend to be a bit of a berserker type. and why not? i have never had a match yet were the magical elf like techs did not fix my mech up as good as new or one were i was not able to get back into said mech. it is a game of big stompy robots, get out there and stomp

I don't think I have ever broken 100 damage in a round in which I bumped into Rip. . . So I joined his unit. That makes him easier to avoid . . .

so i am running my mech stats through a spreadsheet and i come to sobering fact i need to L2P. almost 4000 games and my k/d is only 0.36. (old games before last years reset and new since then) w/l is more encouraging at .093. avg damage is only 184 per game and xp is 768 per game. now i have a few mechs that have really tore things up and then well there are more then a few i truly suck in. also there many many games just getting through the basics.

makes me wonder about these guys with a 2 plus k/d, or who do 500 damage all the time.

but really if I did care about these stats more then i do i would have start staying alive and winning more.

nawwwwww still going to be the crazy berserker i have always been.

mostly i like to see which mech is doing better with which config. so i drop my stats in to a SS from time to time.

yesterday i had one of these teams in tourmaline desert that done the most original tactic ever.... CAMP E6!
and then, there was me in a ecm raven. only ecm of team. running out to spot.
one dude (clan wolf without unit tag, so just a little pub) said: ECM come to the team!
i just said NO, you dont need ecm when all you do is hugging rocks and never get active.

so i was literally behind the enemy, spotting and giving out intel. having 4 mechs focused on me.
and still we were behind...
i swear, these limited campers would achieve nothing at a day if someone wouldnt do some extraordinary spotting.
had to run away from my spot as the enemy slowly surrounded me, placed a UAV straight in the middle of them and made it out alive firing srms everywhere.
killing 2 mechs in the end.

dude was still mad in the end. people do not realize why they won in the end and cry even louder if you point out why.
its all about spotting and knowing enemy movement so you can be that one step ahead.

My whine? The kill stealing. I played for 9 hours straight yesterday(Im new) and couldnt get a single kill for the event. I quit after another 4 hours and had 7 kills but just couldnt bring myself to keep grinding.

Oh but at least I got like 4-5 kill assists a game.
