mate, there is no such thing as killstealing ;)
each kill you do is only poissible because of your team. sometimes they even save your ass and you dont even notice it.
you have to get away from the ego-thinking ;) because you only win as team or lose alone.

Sorry to tell you boss. But it isn't ego-thinking. i play multiple games where killing is the main priority and I don't give jack **** about my kills. I don't in this either. I like working as a team. But if an event pops up to kill people, and you work hard only to have that one dude who has done jack **** the entire game but follow you and shoot his guns only when the enemy is almost dead. That's a piss off.

What I was TRYING to say was during THIS event, the kill stealing is nuts. Don't tell me there is no such thing.

That's a cop out answer.

I generally agree with Alienized, in that if I'm in a group, and we're all firing at the enemies around us, I don't generally call it kill-stealing if I do the majority of damage, then the guy next to me finishes off the mech, or if he (or she) does, and I just happen to get in the last shot. Hopefully that doesn't make me a kill stealer, though I did have a fellow Carrion Crow call me that several days ago -- in jest, I hope -- after he'd dumped several high-point alphas into an assault and I got the kill with an SRM strike (though it was an 18-missile SRM strike :D). As long as there are enemies in sight, I'm generally not backing off until they're all dead. That said, I agree that having someone follow you to pick up the kill once you've worn the enemy down would be #$%# irritating, and if that was their general modus-operandi, I'd be calling them a kill-stealer.

there isnt. or tell me that you never kill a mech someone else heavily damaged before ;)
its a trip one round. it happens. some mechs are just played that way. run in, shoot, run away. happens that you are in a attack movement and in that time the mech turns to ash so you just do the last shot.

if you say you play different from normal just because there is an event i wont even talk to you any further. its what i despise and what killstealers usually do ;)

Don't feel bad. Kills come with time, and a LOT of times, it's luck of the draw of who fired at the right time, particularly when you focusfire down some poor sod who chose poorly.

This is a team game and the stat that ultimately matters is the W/L column. Be a team player, know your role, and be awesome at it. The rest comes with time. :)

Now to whine. I had multiple matches where some dirty rapscallion stole 3-5 of my kills!

What? You didn't think I wasn't going to be a total hypocrite on this, did you? ^_^

I kid I kid! :D

NO! HE STOLE MY KILLS!!!

I'm joking here! :o

ARRRRRRGH MINNEEEEE!!!!!

a fact is that some mechs have such a high alpha that stuff just dies. what you expect from others is to not shoot at all so you get the kills.

this game is about sharing.
sharing incoming and outcoming damage.
you have to do what your mech is best at.
assaults do just a crapload of damage. lights have to ambush. mediums have to flank and seek opportunities on weaker targets. heavies support whatever they can do.

lrms sometimes take a while to arrive. could be killstealing but really isnt. lights just grab what they can. if you expect any of those roles to not do what they should do then you could have played many games, no one cares because you expect people to play worse because of you.

you even said you are new so you dont even know whats going on most of times. this can be irritating but really, the amount of real killstealing is so minimal that no one talks about it.

In CW drops, especially if they're made up of a scratch company, no-one wants to take charge. Ok, quite daunting I know. However, once someone *does* grab Company Command and tentatively gives orders - then FFS everyone, follow it unless it is to march off a cliff! There's enough time to say: 'meet up at C4' or 'everyone to the beta gate'. You know, simple instructions?

When the order is a given and everyone agrees to assault B5 past the gate - then when the gate opens, F**KING MOVE THROUGH THE GATE. YES, THERE IS INCOMING FIRE BUT YOU HAVE TO ADVANCE. P**SES me off so much when I see 3/4 of the lance then walk backwards and hide. The 1/4 that did make it through to B5 then get's sliced to ribbons.

It isn't too hard to work as a team, sticking together: lights with ECM stick with the group; assaults go up front; meds and heavies to the flank and back. Move as slow as your slowest.

However, as soon as there's incoming fire, I see Assaults stop, drop their sh*t and then start to walk backwards, usually into the rest of the lance who are following. I see ecm lights F**k off and hide and others stand out in the open whining about LRM-spam and OP long range weapons!

Friendly fire? Oh for f**k's sake, don't get me started but this isn't a FPS where you can blaze away at the general direction of the enemy (which includes your team mates in front of you) and act all confused and pissy when your team get's stomped 'cause you just took off the arms and torso of your two most high-DPS-dealing mechs! FOR F**K's SAKE!

/rant off, back to the CW queue

next game he gave me a shout out and i was one shotted in the first 2 minutes. :( :(

never easy shooting friends but then i get paid to do the hard stuff

edited because i really botched up the first quote. having a 7 year old humming in your ear distracts me a little

I remember, after having watched so, so, so, many of Koniving's videos, the first time I saw him in a match.

My first thought was "Oh-crap MM screwed up this time...no WAY I belong in this match!"...

And apparently my second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh thoughts were..."What are those? Is that a butterfly? Are those some pretty lights? I should DEFINITELY wander off by myself and pick some flowers or something! No way I'll get swarmed by most of the enemy team and killed! Wait, are we fighting? Right now?!"...

Fortunately I acquitted myself fairly well the next match I saw him in. :D

Well, I believe you, 0-kill Ivan! :D

Most of the time, it's just players charging in to chase those kills, coincidental to whoever is engaged where. But it's those players that conspicuously hide like a noob until they find targeting info for a weak enemy... they make it exceedingly obvious. (Along with all those other cheesy tactics that are common in other games, which I'll refrain from repeating here.)

Some players complain MWO's time-to-kill is too fast, but it's incredibly slow compared to some other games... making kill stealing far easier. There are tactics that can minimize chances of stolen kills, but that's not really aiding teamplay either.

That drop I did 40 damage in a CN9-AL. . . yeah I remember that. In my defense, I think I was lagging a full 1/2 second or better, cuz the stuff that was hitting me was way out of sync with what I was seeing. (That is my story and I am sticking to it.)

I'll give you one piece of advice right now, don't EVER try to chase these damnable events. It will sap the joy out of your playing experience..oh and there is no such thing as kill stealing in mwo. There is only team win or team lose. You only think for your team's chances of winning.

I had a 4 kill, 400+ damage game in a Commando 2D once. . . it was entirely because I stood between 2 friendly direwolves the entire match and somehow got lucky enough to get the last shot on a few of their kills. I have also had matches where I scored high 400's to 500's with 0-1 kill. Just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Oh but at least I got like 4-5 kill assists a game.

If I remember right - there is an extra score (one of the little popups - no idea if it is listed at the end)
Called "Solo Kill"

If you did almost all the damage involved - it counts as your kill, even if someone got the last shot.
(I think it actually shows up on both peoples scores for tournies?)

Do not quote me on that tough, as I am having a hard time finding the source of that thought (or any of the recent changes to scores ) but I am almost 1,000% sure I saw that in them.

Oh, no... Solo Kill is when you did the Most Damage and got the Killing Blow. Dueling down an enemy is rewarded by the "Component Destroyed / Killing Blow / Most Damage / Solo Kill / Brawling" chain, but that makes it that bit more frustrating when an actual kill stealer is involved (whereupon you only receive the Kill With Most Damage reward + rewards for however much damage/destruction you did).

I know for sure I have gotten "Solo Kill" when I was not the one to perform the killing blow, but that may have been a display bug or the like

Must've been some weirdness.

Here's the update with the Rewards 2.0 info (though they might've changed some of the numbers; dont' know if they updated that in the post).

apart from getting a kill for this easy challenge he's getting nothing at all.
thats the brainfailure alot of people have.
one mechbay... costs nothing. is worth nothing. its not even worth the time spent playing for it.
so if you really waste all your time getting a mechbay....

i just LOL at you over and over. i got it by playing as i always play.
and many more c-bills + xp. not just a single mechbay...

Depends on how dedicated you are to playing for free.

If you are playing without paying, then an extra mechbay is near invaluable.
