I'm running this and last night it finished off a king crab and a banshee in no more than two alphas each and a cicada in one.

A nice build.

I don't own the 8V since the 8R had more missiles and was more appealing to me.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3b97be9d7e8853a

Many people compare the Ebon to the Timber. I compare my 8R to the AS7-S.

8R
70.6 alpha
16 heatsinks
24.6 h/alpha
Tanks better than the victor. :D

AS7-S
71.6 alpha (at better range)
14 heatsinks (cools slower, but produces less heat)
22.2 h/alpha
Tanks like a god

8R has better cooldown and weighs 20 tons less. The only thing holding it back is the engine size (for an 80 tonner) and the armour (a failing of being an 80 tonner)

Both mechs are a pain to get into range, but your firepower quickly destroys anything in front of you.

Lack of weapon diversity makes me sad and bored.

Also damn Kodiaks. They're so beautiful and so deadly and I can't bring myself to pilot a filthy clan mech.

Had a whine against me from some nobody on my team.

Myself, Ypah, Kai Satay, and a few other pug heavy hitters decided to try our luck against a 12 man (EK) team. It was counter attack and we had to push as EK had Omega.

Now I don't know if the other big names go to sleep and relax when I'm on the team, but at the end of the match I had 8 Killing Blows with 8 KMDD's. (yay Mechtober fest done for today.) My score for damage was only 937.

So the piss ant pipes up and has a crack. I believe her score was only 1227, 1 Kill and 14 assists. I retorted that you cant muck around with a 12 man, (especially EK, they are meant to be good or something.) I know a lot of e peens think there is a talent to farming out damage but I personally think it's a waste of ammo and time.

Ypah also felt the need to apologize for his poor performance. Big boi, you have nothing to apologize for.

So yeah, Defending a Kurita planet successfully annoyed me, but not as much as some idiot, who can't push, uses lrms to pad damage, then makes that comment does.

Mmmmmmm..... yes

GFY-cellent!

We won that match FYI.

Wish they hadn't nerfed the Huginn to the ground .... would have been an effective counter to the kodiak.

Oxide and JR7-IIC are still good counters to the Kodiak. As are all gauss-PPC boats.

Can PGI somehow reverse the steroid-fueled growth of the 35 tonners? (yes they can, but they won't)

:(

Also, MX90 with the old quirks back and BNC-3M with old LPL quirks back would be pretty close to the KDK-3 in terms of power. Heck, the BNC-3M would probably handily outtrade the KDK-3 in short term engagements.

(Right now, the only useful quirks on the 3M are 10% range and -5% energy heat gen. It's still an amazing mech)

That's a route PGI can use, to challenge the KDK-cheese at the top with IS assaults. (If they wanted to, again)

i would rather see them finally fixing highlanders and victors, not to mention the zeus..
maulers, banshee's, stalkers, battlemasters and at some degree the atlas are at a good spot where they arent too good neither too bad (altho the banshee feels like a brick compared to a atlas....)
awesomes work well as second line support mechs or as you mentioned surprise brawlers but highlanders and victors .... still forgotten.

Agreed. HGNs need some more help (some variants are playable, some aren't) and the VTRs need to be looked at again, all of them.

With the way they quirked the AWS and the Mangoyle, you'd think the Victors would get more love.

Victors are extinct compared to the 'Phract, and I see a phract once in 3 games.

Apparently domination is a mode where 'hero's' stand at the back and don't attempt to stop the cap, even when the people that did try to stop the other team from winning have been eliminated..

The words for these people can't be put here, even in the whine thread.

well i just had a guy playing like dirt (hinthint)
tourmaline desert, i think it was domination mode...
as usual, team lumped together for a deathball apart of me who was already flanking before getting outflanked.
having a gauss + 6mlas EBJ on such a hot map... meh. played it first time.
didnt get a kill but thought i done well pushing constantly.
switched through my team....99% warhammer constantly hiding and keeping out of the battle. XL laservomit loadout.
all he done was finishing mechs when they killed another friendly and he got 7 kills with just 400 dmg.

the top of all douchebaggery.

thankfully i got 3 KMDD'S and 600 dmg, talking smack at him. next battle the same thing with him just that he could not be carried this time.

another battle was.... ugh. grim plexus (such a shite map....) i scout the 4 enemy assaults. they form a firing line with some other mechs. i run away with another cheetah.
meanwhile: team gets attacked in the rear and a LRM cyclops died.....
frontal part of team runs one after one into the SPOTTED enemy firing line while the rear of the team got massacred by few mechs.....

why spotting and scouting is just pointless. teams still suicide and fail to use info anyway

Welcome to the world of Tier 1. Where apparently potatoes have more brains than half the players.

Seriously, I'd have gotten more use out of a XCOM rookie than half of the silent pilots there. At least those rookies can spot properly, and they STILL panic less than a fully armoured DWF getting scratched by a single ERLL.

I would just like to say that when attempting to swat at a bug and you miss the bug and end up knocking a glass of really nice wine across the room to shatter and spray its contents all over seemingly everything in a 20 foot radius, really sucks.

Engaging in that folly, with the added bonus of the glass shattering and spraying said wine all over your computer...that sucks worse.

That is my "whine" for this evening. Sigh.

Most irritating for me is spawning on the bad side for alpine domination. We're waiting there because we can't get into the circle without exposing ourselves and the counter has already run down to 20s. Bad design. If the circle were moved slightly to the left so you could stand behind the mountain and be in it, it might make for a better play experience.

Not a whine but,

So I accidently Team Kill a Stalker in Mining Collective when I'm play in Clan Alt. I actually firing on Grasshopper that hugging Stalker but I accidenly Team Kill Stalker.

Then I'm switched to main account I got Team Killed by Dual Gauss Jagermech in the back when I use Kodiak 3. At least I manage to be top damage and got some KMDD and we winning.

I take it as Karma I guess.

One word: NASCAR.

No, really. It's round, which lends itself to NASCAR very well. It's also pretty flat on most surfaces.

oddly for me anyway that used to be the least nascared map i'd see because no one went right to the enemy entrance due to the high LRM proof walls and everyone plodded to the center. now it's about 50/50- one of the few times where the assault lance is in position to make the push to nascar and not be in a spot where they're left behind like normal nascar maps.

for me it's mining collective and canyon that give HPG a run for it's money in map selection. even frozen city has thankfully dropped off some of late (let's REALLY enourage hiding and sniping with that one).

I wish they'd do some sort of maze map or even one with an extensive cave system where you can actually brawl in.
