God damnit, I hate cappers in assault that sit on the enemy base while the rest of the team is fighting hard.

Just had a pair of heavies doing that while the rest of my team was fighting our way back to stop the enemy capping our base. And despite being 2 players down and my Crab being legged, we made it back and were successfully preventing the enemy from capping out base... but then the battle ends because of those two potatoes thought they were doing something useful, and refused to get off the enemy base and come help the rest of the team.

Thing is, we would have been winning even more easily if they had not been on the cap; they did nothing at all for their team by being on it.
The team was gonna win, all they did was make it harder to stop the enemy cap attempt.

And given the enemy had at least 3 mechs on our base and were capping faster, the fact we stopped the cap attempt was what won the battle for the team, not those 2 potatoes on the enemy cap.

On the bright side, neither of that pair of potatoes made 100 matchscore for that battle, so no event loot bag for them!

Europe prime time just gave me a very harsh reminder of what is blue on blue fire...

Am also reminded that in QP, it really is 1v23

Dear Teammates,

My Supernova is NOT indestructible. Stop running the f*** away as soon as you see me engaging a nearby enemy.

Today was a study in firepower vs. tonnage. In one game, we had:

- A Stormcrow with an LBX20, 3 SRM4's (or maybe 6's) and 4 ER Small Lasers. It was interesting, though hot and short on ammo.

- A King Crab with 6 machine guns, 2 SRM6's, and 2 large lasers. It was depressingly undergunned.

Hmmm... if your 100 ton mech has less firepower than a 55-ton mech, you may have done something wrong. Yes, yes - DPS vs. Alpha, I get all that. But seriously - where did all that Crab's extra tonnage go? Based on his speed, I'm not convinced it went into the engine... Maybe he was running with single heat sinks or something. We managed to win, but not because of that King Crab.

Yesterday. Incursion on Frozen. I had a good feeling about the match. Few minutes in, enemy is scattered and we have the numbers at 4-0. I line up my MADII-C (2xerPPC, 2xuAC10) against a King Crab who has over extended.

-crash-

I manage to get back in to the match only to see our team lose 4-12.

Pretty much how I feel in QP right now. MM put me in long losing streak because I always got team who never group up, too coward, all keep doing dumbs things.

Pop-tarts, how I hate them.

We'll ignore how stupid it looks, or how annoying it is when some lucky guy gets a dual-gauss headshot on you while soaring through the air at an angle on your moving mech... it's just that they seem to turn my whole team stupid when they appear.

Suddenly, people freeze in place, out in the open, and futilely try to trade damage with him even though he's behind cover most of the time. The pop-tart obviously wins this battle, so you end up losing mechs to a dope on a pogo stick, hopping in place. But if you try to run the pop-tart over, expect your whole team to just stand there, not pushing with you, as they slowing get torn apart.

PSA: If you walk in front of my mauler while I'm brawling with an enemy, the 2 AC20 rounds that just tore your back to shreds are your fault.

Just had a potato raging at me for daring to have such a 'crappy build' in my Linebacker as 2x ER PPC in the high left/right torso hardpoints.

I loled, especially when I went to score 701 damage and helped win the battle for the team, while the potato only did 277 damage.

Never liked them either since MW4. People lined up beind a hill and bounced up and down. It was immersion breaking to me, to see what were supposed 25+ ton machines acting like frogs.

On another note, I don't enjoy the game much anymore. It's Plexus Plexus Plexus Polar Plexus Plexus Frozen Frozen...
I try to get my Griffin-2N to 1.0 k/d but it's impossible, as soon as I'm 1 kill short of the goal I get a string of losses so I'm set back 7-8 kills, rinse and repeat. It's infuriating since we could have won many more matches. people capping in assaults, lacking situational awarness so 9 mechs stand passive while 3 are massacred by the whole enemy team.

I can't say for sure but it feels like player quality has gone down.

3 teams in a row that had no idea that the minimap exists, nor what it does ....and are seemingly baffled by the concept of pressing R

time to call it a night....

in the potato's defense (sort of), usually the complaining one does under 100 damage in those circumstances- in an assault. so this one must be towards the high end of the spud pool.

Potatoes.

You can peel 'em, you can bake 'em, you can roast 'em, you can boil 'em.

But nobody said you could be buried by them :C

Had a LRM boat -- well, make that a LRM lance -- in Charlie, on Canyon. Charlie hunkers down in the outermost valley ring, near their spawn.

Okay, I thought, this is fine. I have a NARC, and I have LRM 30 on my KFX. I can make this work. Plop NARC on enemy straggler KGC without any AMS or ECM cover nearby, flag him for deletion LRM barrage by NARC. Lo and behold, I see the LRM locked symbol on him, and I proceed to rain LRMs on him as well.

Except only my LRM 30 was making it. For the next 30 seconds, I was raining on this KGC, and not a single other LRM made it to the target. Enemy ACHs come around and force me to run, and I get blasted to bits after I run into a couple of their MAD IICs.

Cue in spectator mode, and I think a facepalm is far too weak for what I felt. Those four LRM boats in Charlie were firing volley after volley of LRM into walls, hills and rocks...

I don't know where to start... three day losing streak, occasional wins but so many terrible games.

So many times the maps/team 'tactics'Posted Image were not optimal for my builds either...
  • Bring ranged when my team nacar's and enemy team full of brawlers
  • Bring AMS hardly any missiles (and my team nacar's)
  • Don't bring AMS my team hides from lurms
  • Bring medium range, teams camp and trade at range (wide nacar's)
  • Bring brawl and I get back cored by own team (same person in two different games)
sub-optimal choices:
  • Take good position, opfor dis-organised and on the back foot, our team searches out the nearest rock formation to nascar around instead of taking up firing positions or moving into organised opfor. Posted Image
  • Play Conquest and assaults decide to cap and get themselves isolated Posted Image
  • Have a some direct players who are clearly about to push into opfor, 2/3's of team wait till just after they engage, with no hope to extracting themselves, to turn and chase a couple of squirrels (in one game their squirrels survived 8 vs 3 odds) Posted Image
  • Team walks into a hollow, hears rumors of opfor... team camps hollow and waits till they fully resemble fish crashing into one another in a barrel. Posted Image
  • Team has good lines of sight/high ground, gets reports of opfor in coming... 're-positions', get caught in lurm friendly, dips, hollows, ramps, sides of hills Posted Image
  • Team nascars up to half a dozen times what ever rock/building/map feature they can find... Posted Image
  • Team can't nascar as they are too spread out... Posted Image
'Magic' moments:
  • Opfor brawler walks past half our team, who they ignore, to focus on me. Even with voice coms, UAV and 'R' my team doesn't react. (I could and would have re-positioned if I had known my team wasn't going to do anything about the on1-iic-a less than 100 meters behind them, my erll HBR fared badly vs splat ON1 IIC at that range).
  • Next game drop in a splat on1-iic-a get a FF alpha'd in the back by a ebon-jag just as i'm engaging the enemy, spin around assuming that an enemy is behind me and I can't take that sort of damage again... nope, no enemy... the real enemy has moved forward and takes my missile arm and causes serious damage to the rest of my mech...my fight is nearly over
  • The next game the same FF pilot nearly back cores my cicada... 3 minutes into the game.

Played 2 battles in the morning today, won them both with decent scores, then stopped playing because I was afraid that if I played more, I'd start getting terrible teams.

Started playing again later in the day... and of course the play session starts off with a 6 battle losing streak, yay.

Some truly epically bad teams too, like one on River City that huddled in a blob behind the citadel; I was the only player covering approaches across the river, and I was quickly forced to make a retreat in the face of a push by multiple enemy mechs; I died shortly after retreating past my camping team, as they were too busy dying to try and help out.

Eventually the losing streak ended and I got some good wins in, but final results for the session? 5 wins to 7 losses, despite decent stats of 2.00 Kills/Death, 1.17 Kills/Battle and 441 Damage/Battle.

While I'm hardly an elite player, I'm still playing at a level that should be producing more wins than losses, but it seems the matchmaker just wants to keep lumping me with these terrible teammates that I just can't carry enough.

It is really killing my enjoyment of the game too, to the point I'm considering cancelling all my pre-orders and calling it quits.

Lost Canyon yesterday... I'm the last pilot left, in a Locust 1E (6ML)... I'm getting chat from this one guy, who was in an Ebon Jag...

"Just die noob"
"You suck"
"Nub"
"You don't know what you're doing"

We lost, but I finished the match with 671 dmg (almost top damage for the game) vs his 227...

Oh and Lost an Assault match on Crimson, because we flanked around tunnel side to fight, they sprinted over saddle to cap.

Was fighting on HPG with a teammate KDK-3 nearby, when I suddenly took a massive hit to my rear CT, instantly turning it red. I turned around, and the only thing behind me was the Kodiak, so I knew it was him that hit me.
Naturally the Kodiak player refused to admit he'd done anything wrong, blaming it on me for 'crossing in front of him' and 'trying to steal his kills'.

I went and reviewed my video recording of the battle afterwards, and it turns out I was actually stationary at the time I took the hit; what happened is that the enemy Urbanmech the Kodiak was shooting at crossed in front of me, placing my mech between the Urbie and the Kodiak.

So yeah... potato that doesn't know how to avoid shooting his teammates is also a liar.

Just enjoyed watching a forum warrior on my team get wrecked in his Kintaro hiding in the back with LL and LRM5s :)
