Do Lone Wolfs Count As A Faction For The Upcoming Event?

I would really rather NOT join a stupid faction, so does lone wolf count as one? I suppose if it did then lone wolfs would win super easily what with the massive number advantage... what about the merc corp guys? I suppose I could sign up with a lame faction just for the event, then go back to being a lone wolf and burn the clan banner when I get it...

Looking at the ad for the event, they show ALL the faction symbols, including lone wolf and Merc Corps, so presumably these will be treated as a faction. As for "super easy" wins, they contest compares the top pilots of each faction, it's not a gross total thing.

I have a feeling that merc corp will do pretty well overall.
