1) I've been that 'Underhive' guy who does something stupid and goes down in less than 100 damage. I've also had 8 kill matches in a 1G battlemaster.

Get what I mean? It's a significant improvement and I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, a 7 page read....

Emotionally I am with Sandpit/Roadbeer/others on this one. I think that while MischiefSC's idea of the new guys needing to learn from experienced plays by fighting them or seeing them in action is kinda/sorta/maybe ok in some way for lack of a better option BUT I would rather see new players come in, pick a faction/merc/LW and immediately hit a lobby where they are picked up and mentored by kind hearted and experienced players. I find that more valuable than getting murdered and being expected to be able to sit quietly and learn. How many potentially good or ok players have we lost that logged in, made an account, got their a$$ handed to them and decided it was not their cup of tea? How many could we have kept if we had a mentoring system/lobby/etc? In the end this is a team based game, only the team is important as it is the core idea to the whole sales pitch we got and the reason why most of us got involved anyways. If it were not for the team aspect of MWO I would have uninstalled it long ago and played MW4 now and then. Graphics are nice, mechs are nice, game mechanics... naja ok, but without PGI being able to offer ANYTHING else in this game than a few good drops with my team, there is nothing in this game worth the time or effort.

Intellectually I have to side with MischiefSC about the ELO system, all the stuff I have read in this an other posts is just too well written and convincing to do otherwise. Personally I am also looking forward to the 3/3/3/3 system if for no better reason that to not have to see 4 DDCs, 3 Stalkers, and 5 Jager/Cataphract vs 2-3 heavies + rest med/light in a match.

I have mixed feelings about the CW que idea, should CW ever come about. There is a lot of potential for a group or groups of tryhards to tip the scales. Even worse is when the scales are noticable tipped you will have tons of less than devote faction members switching factions to get the best benefits. On the other side I would hate to see the fate of New Avalon lay in the hands of seriously inexperienced/unskilled players. New Avalon deserves to be defended by the best TEAM.

Magna the best way to learn is to play against the best. See what they do, die a few times, Try the new things you learned and find out how good you can become.

It has always worked for me. I always sought out the best in any class or game. studied them, played/fought against them, and made myself better through the effort. I don't want to think I'm good cause everyone else is just as bad as I am, I want to be good cause I earned it by playing against the best. And if I am not good, then I want to know that I am awful so I can move on to something I am not awful at. :D

Hey Joseph,
for guys like you and me, yup, it is. I did the same thing, trial and error, try to pick up tricks from the guys that survived, etc. But you and I both know that not everybody thinks like that or can even learn like that. God, when I think back to boot camp... nah, don't get me started. LOL

Agreed but As not everyone can learn the same way not everyone wants the game dumbed down to make US the god among mortals.

That sounds like the words from a habitual pug stomper.

Come on, everyone that has played this game for any real amount of time can tell the difference between them screwing up and them never having a chance in the first place.

And we all know the match maker sets up the latter FAR more often than it should.

Well, considering that I have been playing only solo since the very beginning, thanks for the compliment. :D

Seriously, though, whenever the PUG team I was in got stomped, I didn't go to the forums to complain and join the "I got stomped, MM is bad, and PGI sucks" bandwagon. I just licked my wounds and went back for more. Now if only more players did the same.

Definately, the game does not need to be dumbed down.
I had it worse, I went to boot in Jackson SC....

I heard he had some trouble at his last doctors visit. They found traces of blood in his heroin stream.

Maybe so, but then Mitch has died already to drug overdose. <_<

I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait."

I do find it funny that you make a Doors reference, then talk about Keith Richards.

Doors > Stones. Any day.

Most of histories great poets and classical musicians had Syphilis, called 'the divine disease' because of the heights of creative madness it caused. Madness being the key term; the prions, the little viral ********, would slowly eat the brain. In the process they would create these explosive bouts of creativity and insomnia. The result was short lived but brilliant poets and musicians.

massive drug abuse did that in the 70s. Most of the great musicians of the era died to drug overdoses while chasing that incredible creative high. Shining bright then burning out.

We found an effective treatment for syphilis and thus had to create a new means of dramatic, artistic self-destruction.

Doors ftw though.
