Yes, there should be more easily accessible load out information for the mechs you buy. But when one buys a package deal it is normally on the consumer to know what the sub-contents of the package entail.

I know, but even just browsing the regular purchasable mechs, it only lists the weapons. No engine is listed at all, if it doesn't have an XL I won't get it.

1: Hit Mechlab.
2: Select tab Purchasable, then Heavy.
3: select CPLT-A1(c) hit at bottom right Mech details....
Here you go, the mechs mounts a 280 STD
