Why is the Gauss rifle so difficult to use, firstly you have to wait for it to charge up, I do not really have a problem with the charge up in itself, but please once charged it should stay in a ready state to fire. At the moment once fired you pay a second penalty of having it cool down, all the while someone with a AC2 is crapping all over you.
Either make it a weapon worth using or remove it.

Play 15-20 matches with one. You will sing a different tune when you actually master the thing. Its a high difficultly high skill weapon, that the typical meta sheep cannot understand how to use. For those who actually CAN use the gauss, its as deadly as it ever was, its just not everywhere like it was before the charge.

^ Pretty much. I've been using it on my Victor 9K (which comes standard with it). Once you get a feel for it, it's easy.

You can get used to the charge mechanic as it is really simple, not high skill at all like some might say, just the same as not having to look down to time when your weapons are off cd.
The charge just causes you to lose out on any shots of opportunity against poptarts or ridgehumpers, or even people breaking cover to advance to another pice of cover, which in my opinion makes it not worth it along with its weight/slots/explosiveness.

I finally forced myself to use the gauss rifle. And I really don't mind the charge up anymore. But they need to lower the cool down of the weapon. I think it is like 4 seconds right now. It should be more like 3 seconds. Then the gauss would be in the sweet spot. As is nobody uses it because of the charge or the dps. Keep the charge, change the dps.

your missing the point of the Gauss then. Its not a DPS gun, its an Alpha gun, like the PPC/ERPPC is, there alpha weapons. High damage, high cool-down, much like how the Clan ERPPC just might be a 6 sec CD for a 15 damage PPC (but really we have no idea what PGI is gonna do).

I would appreciate a module or perk to allow the time you hold the charge to be extended.
That said, in dealing with poptarters and ridgehumpers, it's just a matter of anticipation and rhythm. Personally I find dealing with those two classes easier than utilizing the Guass in close quarters, which is likely an issue with me as a pilot and not the balance of the weapon.

Well it is the best weapon against them due to travel speed, but if they are using them too, advantage them, and you become one too.
