I Have More Fun On Smurfy Than Ingame

I had really fun when I was played mw4 merc mektech mod, but the most fun was creating many mech configurations. Setting up better standard all around, multipurpose builds. Like this mech got to have back up weapons and anti-personnel weapon.

So yet again, I spend more time on mechlab than actual game.

So present time... several times in week I spend time on Smurfy, having fun, building loadouts. Read forum, saw thread about crap Gauss and better off invest on ac5. so I spend time on getting ac5 mech builds.
Read about LRM buff, started building LRM builds.

Last time I played was during the Centurion event and lately before that I have been not so interested in MWO gameplay. I think would played a lot of there was co-op campain and single player as I was expecting a MW5 to come.

Now I would play ingame if I could at least build a mech and test drive it before buying all changes and finally put it into pvp.

I have to actually use Smurfy website before I rebuild any mech in 2.0.. (been playing since Jan 2013).... I just cannot stand mech building in 2.0... its too counter intuitive and confusing...

I used to mess around and try stuff before 2.0 came out.... now I grumble if I have to change ANYthing .... cant believe people in the forums still think its a better system (I'm sure the front end part that we do not see is better... but the layout is horrible)

You couldn't even do that in the single-player campaigns of previous MW titles. I've played other giant stompy robot type games, and haven't ever seen that. I have no idea why you would expect that now.

And this isn't MW5. No publishers wanted to finance that.

So ... we have what we have.

If you like the Mech Lab so much, maybe you'd be better off with one of the BattleMech builder programs, like Solaris Skunk Werks or Heavy Metal Pro. They're free, you can build any and every 'Mech you ever wanted, and there's no pesky game to get in your way.

In some of the Mechwarrior games you had "Instant Battles." Full access to all mechs, weapons, and equipment to just mess around with blowing up AI... Or your buddies. :)

Yeah, but those games (MW2 original and GBL) didn't require you to purchase the stuff at all. You were Clan, so everything was free.

IIRC, you could modify a 'Mech in MW2 Mercs and MW3 and take it into single AI missions (Instant Action), but you still had to purchase the 'Mech mods first. I didn't play MW4 enough to remember that one.

MW4Mercs I could run instant battles with AI bots that had scalable difficulty running any Mech in game. In conjunction with the MekPak stuff (I was playing NBT league at the team, they used the mercs engine and a bunch of community built mechs), it was a blast to test drive stuff in that manner before trying it against real people.

Honestly, I don't even play anymore. It's probably a combination of Ghost Heat and UI 2.0, although some of the monetization tactics they're using likely contribute.

The overall effect is that I'm so turned off by the way they're doing things that I couldn't even bring myself to login for the the free Centurion event.

That being said, I still end up checking patch notes and playing with Smurfy once in awhile, like the OP was describing.

Yeah it feels like MONETIZE EVERYTHING is their mantra.

It wouldn't hurt them to have some kind of sale on mechbays or mechs for cbills that my account and I could appreciate.

I would love to pay MC for some engines I already own, I used to be able to trade my XL290 from one jenner to the next but not I rather not touch a mech if I have to go into mech lab. I agree with the OP, if I need to build something Ill do it on smurfy, then go into the UI 2 mechbay and try copy it as fast as possible then get out. I don't like being in mechbay if I can avoid it since it feels like pulling teeth sometimes.

Used smurfy a total of maybe 3 times? I prefer actually being in-game...

2.0 has a BIG BIG BIG mistake. Everybody knows that when you design something, you must get everything available to the user within 2 or 3 clicks.

2.0 requires 20 clicks just to put a weapon. That is just crazy dumb.

MW4 for example had everything on a single screen. Same for Smurfy. Hint hint.

20 clicks???? Over-exagerating much.

It's terribly designed nonetheless. MW4 did it pretty much right. You had mutiple hardpoints of variing size and type and a very simple and understandable weapon list that allowed for simple drag-and-drop until you were satisfied with your configuration. 1.X was okay, abeit somewhat clunky, 2.0 a HUGE step in the wrong direction.

I was also disappointed with UI 2.0. I can not effectively build mechs. They don't let you see where everything is at the same time while being able to make changes. It doesn't make sense to equip one part of the mech without taking into consideration what and where all the other equipment is which they now hide from you. Then they add the mech overview button that you have to keep clicking and going back to get any perspective of the big picture. Why can't I have the big picture in front of me when I'm making changes/decisions on a mech? Before UI 2.0 I built mechs in game most of the time. Now I don't ever build mechs in game because of this problem.
