I can't open a topic in the "ask the dev's" part of the forum so i will place it here.
Feel free to move it if you know a more appropriate place.

As you know the Ask the Dev's threads always fill up with lot's of discussions, rage posts and who knows what else.
This makes it timeconsuming for the dev's to find the questions they are looking for when making their next "Ask the Dev's".

In this thread there will only be questions to the developers. No discussions, no saying this is a good/bad idea.
If you like a question give it a "like". If you don't like it then don't say anything.
Saying "that's a ¤"%+ dumb question" for example is off topic and will be reported as such.

Just questions to the dev's. Anything else is off topic.

Now ask your questions and if the dev's answer wrong....we blame Paul.
Blame everything on him. It's easier that way. :P

1: In the Battletech novels you often read of mechs that get sluggish and slow due to high heat.
Will you eventually put this feature in MWO?

2: The Single Heatsinks (SHS) are currently almost never used. There have been various discussions on how to make SHS into a viable alternative to Double Heatsinks.
Like this - http://mwomercs.com/...aid-of-no-heat/
Are you concidering doing something about SHS to make them usefull?

1. The LRMs had a huge buff last patch, are you happy where they are now, or will there be another nerf / buff to them?
2. Are the SRMs getting looked at?
3. Are there any new IS mechs coming up? If yes, can we know which ones?
4. Are there new variants of existing chassis coming up? (I'd love something cheaper than the CN9-D)
5. Can you please explain more about the "bonus modules" and "warhorns" that come with the clan packages? (Do you know what they will be?)
6. Is there any progress made on CW that is visable / showable to us? (Lines of code, little test variants of the game)

Those were the questions I could think of right now, but I'll probably edit this post to add more.

When the clan mechs arrive they have many restrictions. The last 0.5 ton of equipment might become a problem.
All these things will be locked on a Clan mech.
  • The engine type and rating
  • The number and placement of a minimum number of heatsinks
  • The amount and distribution of armor
  • The armor type and the location of any critical slots occupied by Ferro-Fibrous
  • The internal structure type and the location of any critical slots occupied by Endo Steel
  • Enhancements such as MASC
  • The occasional weapon or other piece of equipment (e.g. jump jets) that is included as part of the base configuration

Adding a single ton of equipment is easy. Just add a ton of ammo or a heatsink.
But half a ton becomes difficult if you don't have an empty energy hardpoint since you can't increase armor, engine rating etc.

What are you going to do about this?

  • Will you consider tweaking the size of some mechs, namely making most oversized mediums a bit smaller? What work would be involved in that? From other games and 3D software it would seem like a simple thing, but would it be problematic for your skin/pattern system?
  • Can we have a button for turning AMS on/off?

  • Will there be a publicly available option for a spectator mode or developer mode with free-floating view. Perhaps this feature can be made available to premium booster lobbies with an option to turn on or off.
