Nick:
You've got something horribly wrong with your build if you can't get at least as good as I do. You've got more cores, more clocks, more cache, and more GPU than I do, and the lowest I get is the high 20's.
Unless you have a pressing need for other programs, you might want to back your drivers back to 13.12. Also, make sure CCC is not imposing it's own level of antialiasing.

Nitzol:
Overclocking is reasonably easy. The important thing to remember is you can never have enough cooling, and that the least amount of Voltage you can get away with, the better. Now, load up your temp monitors, stress test software, and start cranking that multiplier UP! It goes something like: Multiplier up until you hit instability, then voltage until stable, rinse, repeat. Always run the stress test for a minimum of 30min to check temps. There are several very good sites to reference for overclocking information and instruction. Google is your friend.

MWO is the only game that my system struggles on. I play BF4, Metro LL, FarCry3, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider etc at max setting on 1080p. I run mantle on BF4 with 14.3 drivers and it's butter. Do you use the pre mantle 13.12 driver yourself? I haven't used that driver since the new mantle drivers so I'm not sure if it fares better with MWO. I get as low as 43@ GPU utilization which means that my CPU isn't feeding my GPU and it is hindering my system's performance. This is clearly where mantle could help if the game decides to support it in the future.

MWO is pretty much the only game I play right now, and none of the available or announced Mantle games have caught interest, so I might as well just run the WHQL drivers.

Since everything else runs smooth for you, I wonder if it could be a borked MWO install...and yes, I know re-installing sucks.

I also note you haven't mention RAM amount/specs, or if an SSD or not. These could be factors as well, unlikely...but...

I just did the re-install as well as rolled back my drivers from 14.3 to 13.12 whql. I have tried to downclock the processor to 4.0ghz as well. The down clock gave me the most horrible 5fps performance at 1280 x 720 low settings dx9. The re-install did not do improve anything and the driver roll back gave me worse gpu utilization as low as 28%.

The most tolerable / playable performance is 5.0ghz dx11 very high settings, msa on 1080p vsync on as it usually sticks to 60 fps up until the fighting gets heavy in which it dips to 13fps.

I have 16gb Crucial Ballistix 1866 OC'd to 2012 and MWO is installed in my Kingston Hyper X SSD.

That's the unfortunate truth. The more demanding settings maybe forces my system to use more of the GPU but it is still clearly cpu bound.

I have the same performance problems. AMD Phenom II 1090T, 6 cores at 3.2Ghz. Nvidia GTX 560x2 sli. 8GB of RAM, all that. It doesn't matter whether I change the settings to the lowest or highest. The performance is about the same. <30fps 90% of the time. Its ******* bullshit. Newer games look better and run at a higher framerate. This game has been butchered to the point that it runs like shit for some people, and fantastic for some others. Regardless of hardware.

I was able to improve the performance of my system by following some of the recommendations of people here in the forums. Basically I rolled the drivers back from 14.3 to 13.12 WHQL and re installed MWO and somehow it gives me better performance now. Try to see if it helps.

Under DX11, my native 2560x1600 resolution runs better than 1080p set to full screen (1/4 the number of pixels). Some settings, like Environment, give better performance at high or very high than at medium. It appears that more GPU offloading is in fact in place, just not very consistent.

Just to add, the most recent April 4 patch made improvements to the GPU usage of my system. I now get constant 99% GPU usage of very high settings with msa on 1080p. It does use a lot of memory bordering 2gb whereas it use to be around 900mb. If I turn off AA, the GPU usage goes down to as low as 35% but averages on the 50% range. Average frame rates with msa on is 45 fps with dips to as low as 28 fps and this was a big improvement from the abysmal 13 fps dips that I use to get. With AA off it averages 65fps with dips to as low as 32 fps. Still not awesome, but a big improvement from before. Hope it works for your system as well.
