And this is why we have 25 pages of discussion about it?

ohkay

Pretty much, that and it's surprising effectiveness in TT. Unless your opponent decides to be a douche and field aerial units just to bomb it to oblivion.

EDIT: Plus what Wanderer said. :)

It's OK, Iqfish.

Just think of it as The Littlest Poptart.

But seriously, it's a compact bundle of punch that plays like every light ever designed- backwards. It's designed to be slow, cheap, and yet painful to run into. As 'Mechs go, it's the underdog. People like underdogs.

Another good hero name: UnderMech.

Where is my Mauler PGI? screw the urbie

As a Steiner player, I recommend all Kurita players adopt and play the Mauler, a mech that makes the barn-door Awesome look svelte.

Yup! I want to believe they wouldn't have done that if they didn't intent to release the Urbanmech soon, but that's probably just wishful thinking. :)

Don't get me wrong. I do want the Mauler. However, I do want the Urbie even more. The Urbie is a requirement for this to be considered a proper mechwarrior game. Until it's got an Urbanmech in it, it's just going through the motions.

Adding an Urbie will go a long ways in terms of making me, and many others forgive past sins by PGI.

The Mauler, cool enough, certainly capable of destruction with the right layout, but it's not a requirement.

The Church of Urbanmech states this:

"and lo, it shall seem that the days are black, and the frolopment [unknown term, possibly related to a cataclysm?] shall be nigh. But lo, in the west and north against the sea in the city of Van*******[here was a vile term from an ancient language] there will come a light. A great warrior shall stand amongst the metal gods, and though his appearance will be less, and his pace shall be the slowest, it will be he who affects the world He will bring prosperity to the merchants that work for the pig, and happiness to the ones who were most desperate. There will be much rejoicing, and the short god shall rule them all, hoppity."

Urbie + Marauder. Minimal requirements.

It's beta in my eyes until that happens.

You might be familiar with the amount of Maraudering I did for MW4. ;) However I don't think they're going to risk the copyright issue ever. (Believe me, I would be in a Mad all day all the time if it were available, and I'd make the model for them also. I think I could probably get MWO quality models out with a bit of work.

Generic numbercrunching option. It's a good mech, and it looks pretty cool, but it's not got the soul or the history of the Urbie (or the Marauder.)

Nobody is impressed with people that do well in good mechs, the Urbie would be like a hard option for those that choose to push themselves.

isn't that what we have the Locust for? ;)

I would much rather drive a Mauler that would have some real use and really cool configs than another (almost) useless Mech. I already don't drive Meta, not sure i have to limit myself even more by driving a Locust or urban

Ohh, another assault mech with plenty of weapons. The Mauler's interest here is the 4 ballistic in the torso and the 2 arm e. It's a numbercrunching choice, I am not against the Mauler (I would get at least one because it's a Kurita mech in fact) However it's not got any battletech soul the way the Urbie does, which is a legend and icon.

To be honest, though, the Urbanmech has soul because we (the community) gave it that. If PGI released the Marauder, Warhammer, OR Urbanmech, they would have more sales in that one mech than any other mech release before it (the Timber Wolf would have this status as well, but the entry cost was much higher due to the ala carte and package pricing).

I do hope they release the Urbanmech, just to hush people up, but I think it will have the same difficulties making people happy as the Timber Wolf did - everyone expects it to look like the cartoons and sketches, which is nothing like MWO mechs really look, and anything short of that is going to get all sorts of uproar from one side or the other.
