Welp. The 40$ package is the equvalent of a Gundam kit and the two cans of paint I'd be using to do it over, and I already have two of those waiting to be built. Time to join the bandwagon.
Just hope the light queue doesn't suddenly explode when Urbies arrive.

People, don't let the hype lead you to make a bad purchase you'll regret. Remember Operation Phoenix hype.

Funny, people said the same thing about the Locust. Now I use it to murderize pretty much anything 100 tons or lighter.
Let's take a look at Operation Phoenix, shall we?
Locust: Everyone said it was DOA, Right now, it's a beast on the field
Shadowhawk: Everyone said it was DOA, instantly became the best medium in the game (still is, with the SCR a close second)
Thunderbolt: It was okay overall the entire time, with quirks, it is now a beast, and the most recommended heavy for competitive CW decks.
Battlemaster: From day 1 is considered one of the best ridge humpers in the game, and the 1 S is one of the best assault LRM boats ever.
Yep, they sure fooled us with the phoenix mechs.
The Urbie is a 30 ton mech, with some of the best hardpoints for a light. It has it's own role to play, and sure looks like it will be decently hitboxed. Not to mention that most of us want it BECAUSE it's not going to be a competitive mech.

Wow, ok so, where to start, oh, I know, the Lolcust is a POS. Fun? Yes, but still a POS. It is DOA.
And in comp, the Stormcrow is by far and away the best medium, the Shadowhawk coming in at a far second. Even in puglandia which is where you come from i'm assuming it's still worse then the Stormcrow, by far.

I prefer hunchies but there is no denying how good the shadowhawk is and for CW it's the best the IS has. And the thunderbolt is hilariously OP and should be nerfed and the locust has its place. Can't comment on the Battlemaster.
The phoenix mechs turned out great weather you'd like to admit it or not. Doesn't change the facts

I didn't say the Shadowhawk is bad, it's very good, just the Stormcrow is in a class of its own, and yes, the Thunderbolt is very powerful I agree with you on that.

Urbanmech IIC: why would you want to make the Urbie good with clan tech?
Only mech I can get behind is Hatchetman
Edit:
Or if we must IIC: Hunchback all the way
This man gets it! If you want the Urbanmech to be "GOOD"... you don't want an Urbanmech! I really, REALLY hope they don't implement the high engine cap Russ mentioned as a possibility("they could go as fast as a Spider" or somesuch). We have enough lights that do that... Make one light unique FFS!

Before you go all Pugnificent on me. Last time I checked the Locust is a pretty decent mech. Just because you can't work it, don't blame the mech. (Do you have any Locusts? I recommend giving them a shot with upgraded builds)
As for the SCR Vs. SHD argument. Sure, the SCR can pack a lot of firepower, The SHD can still ridge hump better, and can poptart, which even with the JJ nerf, is still pretty okay on it.
Either way. I couldn't care less. The Phoenix pack was decent, with good mechs. That's the whole point.

Funny, because I do actually have and use locusts, they're bad, like really bad, but fun, as I said in the first place. But they have no place in comp or a comp dropdeck. Also how long has it been since you tried the meta? Pop-tarting is dead, I repeat, DEAD. And ridge-humping isn't a meta, but the Stormcrow sure is at the top of the meta. The Shadowhawk? Nope, the 3 ER LL 2K is good, but the crow beats it in all other regards. Jump Jets aren't what you think they are, not anymore.
EDIT: And take your pug talk elsewhere, I'm not a pug, actually semi-comp, but thank you for the insult.

(Click my sig, for pilots who regularly post high numbers with a Locust.)
Let's review my post, shall we?
1- I said the Locust is a decent mech. You said it's a POS. Now, could you point again where I said the Locust was competitive?
2- Did I say the meta was poptarting? I said that despite the JJ nerf, the SHD is still okay with poptarting.(try running a Gauss + ERPPC + JJs set up. It's fun, and still works.)
3- I said that it can ridge hump better (it can also corner peak better), and nowhere did I state that THAT was the meta.

It's not actually supposed to be about the Locust being "good", it's about it actually been fun and a challenge to play, that's the whole point of it, the "fun" bit - don't concern yourself as much with the "good" bit. That said, it does several things better than any mech in the game: hull-down sneaking and flanking, being tiny and hard to hit, having the ample acceleration to dodge and feign maneuvers, and greatest of all, being an embarrassment to whoever dies by its hand. =D
Urbiewarriors... we need to keep up the pressure to change PGIs mind about the collector's variant. It can still be...

Even now, it's not a top tier Light.
Fun, sure. Frustrating, yep. In the top 2-3 Light chassis - nope.
The Shadowhawk is a great medium but it's nowhere near Stormcrow level of awesome. I bet you the analytics that PGI can pull would show this - players with Stormcrows would perform better than players with Shadowhawks, generally speaking.
