Does anyone else feel like they got scammed with this game? I have all this MC sitting around, that I was waiting to spend when the game finally started, from closed beta. Over 11,000 MC still (more than half the $60 tier founder). Now, I spent that money to buy that MC with the idea that there would be a planetary conquest soon. My guess is that they probably said that. It's so long ago, all I know is that these scammers took my money based on a promise that they haven't delivered.

Bottom line, I was told MC would be useful in the planetary conquest metagame. As that has not happened in over a year now, I want to get my money back. But because it was scammed away, I'll never see it.

Beware this game, it is a scam. Beware these devs, they are scammers. Trust me when I say you'll regret any money you put into these thieves' pockets.

I kind of agree with the OP.

These F2P microtransactions (macro in MWO) are full of loopholes and grey areas for the law. Same with kickstarter's donations.

People pay for a promise, and since the promise is not a contract, or has no written date or term, they receiver can do whatever he wants.

I love this game, but I hate how empty it is.

Basically this. The whole thing has soured me completely to the F2P model. Which is not to say I liked it to begin with, but... yeah. You buy MC with the hope of using it for a future "addition" to the game, then they decide to change that, and you cannot do a thing about it because the purchase was for the MC and not some specific CW product. "Position at the time" gets thrown around, people get mad, ad nauseum.

It's not illegal, but it's damn rinky.

To be honest, I'm not sure what PGI said was a promise but more of a concept of where they would like the game to be eventually. I am probably among the last who would come to PGI's defence ... but I bought in for what the game offered at the time and the potential to be so much more.

Unfortunately, for whatever reasons (probably including that their license for the mechwarrior franchise originally ran out in 2015 - which made doing any real development a risky proposition before they got an extension) ... they haven't delivered on that concept.

The game is barely more than it was during closed beta ... some technical improvements in netcode, HSR, and hit registration helped substantially ... but fundamentally the game hasn't changed much since then which is why many are out of patience with PGI. There was a strong focus on art work ... anything that they could sell - mechs, colors, patterns, cockpit items and consumables ... and very little focus on game mechanisms that would encourage folks to enjoy playing the game beyond the FPS aspects.

Folks have been saying since closed beta (2 years now) that the game needed a good character/mech XP system (what they have is lacklustre at best), some form of Community warfare and some infrastructure to support competitive play. The sad thing is that in 2 years of development they have delivered on none of these. Their next milestone is the revised launch module and match maker ... we shall see how they do ...

Ummm...

MC was never stated to be "useful" in the planetary part of CW. It's "useful" in getting Hero 'Mechs and Premium Time and such, but it won't ever be directly useful to any part of the game.

You purchased a chance to get into the game early, plus have a 'Mech that nobody else can get now. You got what you paid for. There was no scamming involved.

I'm sorry you regret your purchase, but that doesn't mean they scammed you.

I have been blowing through my remaining MC by letting my 6 year old daughter choose paint schemes for my mech, she has expensive tastes in colors, :-)

I would not say they "scammed" me, I was just extremely gullible :-) , I do not fault them for saying exactly what I wanted to hear to give them a bunch of money, they were very good at getting a lot of folks to give them bunches of cash so kudos to them.
In my own mind I interpreted the "Filet Mignon" from the menu they placed before me. Yeah, I only got a "cheese burger" but for a simple burger it ain't that bad. Anyone that feels "scammed" probably just "scammed" themselves by believing in a certain nostalgia and grasping at something that was never there except for their own dreams and hopes.

When PGI offered the founders package and we bought it. PGI delivered. We got up to 4 mechs, a unique 'cough' paint job, early access, cbill bonus, MC etc.

We players associated that sale with the promise of something better; an awesome MW game. To say the founders sale was a scam isn't true. We were promised X and PGI delivered X.

If a person wishes to take issue with what PGI 'promised' to do with MWO vs what has been delivered than that's a different issue.

PGI Ghost-pants math: 1 pant leg + 1 pant leg = 3 pant legs.

At least you can visually spot what caliber cannon he's carrying...

Ouch... Did I peel back that scab a bit to harshly?
