Even now, revisionists are busy erasing that memory.

"Contrary to rumour, Smith & Tinker is not in any way involved with MechWarrior Online, as after the failure to find funding for Mechwarrior 5 in conjunction with Piranha Games, Piranha bought the rights to the Mechwarrior franchise, and has been the sole owner since February 2011. [8]"

I distinctly recall the time-frame where S&T handed over the reins. S&T laid the groundwork.

And PGI/IGP plowed it under.

Wow that's a load of crap.

That revisionist BS, that is. Not your comments.

fear of what you wish...
I would not be so keen to see PGI's implementation, if there's a choice.

I would assume there are a few hundred Old Guard players left that will understand what im posting about because they were playing MechWarrior2- MechWarrior4Mercinaries and the Mektek Mod on the in-game server and MSN Gamming Zone for the 1v1-12v12 planetary and Solaris league's and a few Role-Play leagues as well.

It was Mentioned that PGI/IGP/Russ/Brian need to build a lobby system then just allow private groups and players to build the leagues back up and grow the community again from scratch almost.I agree with this as players would still buy Hero/Champion mechs plus cameo and paint to spruce up there mechs.

Its not like there going to lose money they would gain x10 the players and that means x10 the chances of players buying virtual items. The only real example of the MSN Gamming zone still in use by MechWarrior games is =( http://www.gameranger.com/ ) it is a much simpler version of the old MSN gamming zone but you can still see how individual players or groups could set up private games and form leagues through the main chat area and to find players or groups for matches.

You can still play MechWarror3-MechWarror4Mercinaries and the Mektek mod there if any wish to learn how the old PC MechWarrior games worked for private matches come over and setup and play a few games if you have the Older PC MechWarrior games or you download them for free on many websites.

Seriously, they have all the games running on servers.
It's really NOT that hard to simply list those games in a user interface, and provide the ability for folks to join them.. even enable a password protection for folks who want to lock a server for a specific purpose.

This isn't some kind of crazy lostech. This is pretty basic stuff that every game has had for decades.

I've lost all temporary interest in this game after Tuseday's patch failure. Nothing surprises me anymore. What can go wrong has gone wrong and will continue to go wrong.

Yeah, what failed? I haven't even bothered playing since they announced that teams would never be allowed to go above 4 men.

And as each feature gets shoveled off to 3rd party solutions, their chances of getting them back becomes laughably slim.

I think they know exactly why most teams have left.
And they have been actively discouraging them.
The latest lamebrain tweet sums in up nicely.
What they want is just a bunch of guys and girls running around with the guns ie mechs shooting each other.
No need to develop the mythical CW if this is turned into a fps shooter.
I'm truly surprised we don't have instant re-spawn yet.
Oh and I typed this all without using Comic San MS.
Well most of it.

Seriously, the other MW-IP based game that IGP is funding has a lobby?

Is there's something wrong with the MWO picture?

It begs that question... how was DNF's multiplayer handled by PGI. It is bringing me to some odd sense of curiosity that needs to be satisfied.

It's baaaaaaasic, as you can see in this officially-sanctioned video (which I am linking to avoid any NDA bruhaha):

It's literally just a general chat in which you can look for opponents, but hell, that's more than what we have here!

Some of you people just don't get it. A large percentage of us do not care about or want to play 12v12 competitive matches or tournaments.

We don't want to run the meta builds which are a must if you are going to play against the comp guys.

We want to group up with our friends and drop in our mis-match of crappy mechs and fight a bunch of people in their mis-matched crappy mechs.

I don't own an ECM mech, I don't own any Highlanders or Victors, I don't own an AC20 you may think I'm dumb or crazy for not having any of those but I don't want to have to own a certain mech or use a certain weapon loadout to have to play I have 36 mechs I want to be able to use them all. But you can't take just any mech if you are going to play competitive matches not without screwing your team anyway.

A lobby system where the great unwashed masses can group up and talk with one another put together their group of crappy mechs and drop against another random group of the unwashed. That's what we want and what the game will have to have for CW to work.

The hit detection fix (well, server side damage indication) wasn't included. Beyond that there is some other code work they are doing but Matt had said for a while he was trying to get it into this week's patch.

It didn't make it and instead a bunch of nothing was put in. Okay, we can pick gametype now! Woo! :-|

Anyways, I'm bored until SRMs work properly.

You sir are apparently simply "having fun" and clearly you don't realize the gravity of your position! I'm pretty sure a nerf is in order!

(I'll gladly join you in your mis-matches adventures) :)

It is blatantly obvious that PGI wants this game to be titanfall with battletech mechs. and they will come out and say there is no community warfare, and that that was our position at the time and all that bs.! What the game is now is what your all going to get before someone pulls the plug on it. Hopefully Catalyst and Microsoft will see how shit poorly PGI is handling this game and terminate PGI from its holdings on the IP. Hell im sure the guys over at Harebrained schemes would take this toxic investment and flip it.

At least build a website chat that allows groups looking for games to find each other...
