Do you really need higher then 20 FPS to play?

My Fps tends to be about 19 at the beginning as mechs die off I top out at about 35 FPS, how much improvement do people with higher FPS have?

Higher FPS means a more stable game experience. Frame loss can result in hiccups not only in framerate but also in input recognition. Overall, it's not unplayable unless you drop below 15 but you shouldn't push it.

As others have said missile boats are the best way you can contribute if you have low fps. Out of curiosity, how many frames are you getting?

Stick with the Centurion, since you've started it. I'm probably not the first to say it, but put three LRM10 in a CN9-A.

Yes, there is some ghost heat firing them all at once, but it's not too bad, and chaining them can be pretty brutal if they don't have AMS.

It's been quite a while since the OP put up this thread but i'll throw in some advice anyways.

Make certain all your processor cores are unparked. This guy here explains it all.

I have windows XP but it was crucial for me anyhow.

It performed wonders for me. My cpu didn't fry. It's just muuuuuch faster.
If only my connection could stabilise i'd be perfectly happy with everything.

It is much easier to aim and the game is more responsive with higher FPS. It probably wouldn't make much of a difference in that respect going from 35 to 50, but at 19, you will miss a lot more. In the lower teens, it gets very frustrating.

Be sure to save up some money to build a better computer. A desktop if possible (you can get a lot more quality out of a desktop for a lot less than you can for a laptop of similar quality). The game has a lot more fun on the way after June. I'm looking forward to community warfare.

What's supposed to happen in June?

I sort of wondered if that was it by you mentioning CW in your post. I had just sort of assumed June 2015 would be a closer target. (not exagerrating)

I'm personally thinking December for a realistic date.

Maybe for the first push. Like with UI 2.0. Push something with half the features and some parts not working at all and promise to continue to add to it. Maybe it starts to shape up to what was promised 6 months down the line. ;)

Pick a slow mech something that doesn't have speed so that you wont have fps drops because you moving to fast. Then turn off all shaders stuff that you can. Then load up on lrms. When it goes red hit the button when it goes away stop hitting the button. Simple!

It's not the mech that's going to help, it's your loadout and play style. I have a laptop that is barely able to play the game with FPS constantly between 5-15. I even spent a month playing left handed alone with mouse/keyboard because of a surgery and still could play. That's how I earned my unit nickname of "The One Armed Bandit" because I managed to kill a DDC alone with a Shadowhawk. So, it can be done and have fun.

How? LRMs and sniping. Close in really chews up your CPU and GPU, so convert to a long game. Don't go too fast either, as that will crush your FPS as well. When you keep your enemies at a distance, you do far better.

Good luck!

I remember being mocked so much for that - of course - that was the day they patched ECM in, so they had reason to! :)

I did have cores parked, thank you! that improved my frame rate by 20%!
I did use a different program to unpark the cores.

http://bitsum.com/ab...ore_parking.php

Which translated into 5 to 10 fps gain lol, but at my low FPS rate that was very noticeable, the patch seems to have also improved my frame rate by a small bit as well.
