Due to the physical limitations of man and machine I run harassers with a mix of weapons that are suitable for mediums (the only things I could boat are MLs or smaller). The only time I get below 250m is when people are not looking, otherwise I'm dead. Maybe when the finally get around to fixing SRMs I might do it more often.
Actually making Clans ripplefire might actually backfire by making them actually hit (and do damage) consistently.

....Moral of the story is...

If you cower behind a rock and are to damn scared to take a hit stop your bitching when a light mech out damages you. Every match is different and it will not work for others. But all I see is brawling nerfed this brawling nerfed that. Guess what, if you all start to move those snipers will not last long when you have 3 or 4 mechs targetting them as they go up.

Assaults Heavies quit your complaining about lights putting up higher damage. We just are not scared of taking hits.

Rants and educational moment off

I mean this with all due respect, but the moral of the story is: This is another anecdotal situation where, even as you said so yourself, "every match is different and it will not work for others", yet you implore others to quit doing what they're doing, and adopt your train of thought.

You should feel free to share stories, there is nothing wrong with that, and I bet people would love to hear them. However, your one data point where a positive outcome resulted out of 'Mechs moving up doesn't invalidate the reasonings behind what larger 'Mechs are generally incentivized to do and I think that's part of what Zervziel was trying to say.
