Still does not excuse not giving pugs easier access to in game comms.

Nope. And I won't deny it. But that doesn't excuse PUGs from not down loading a 3rd party Comm either. using TS3 and the NA server was pretty easy the last time I used it.

Interesting. I thought that I was cool or something. Once again, Deathlike rains on my parade. You're like a walking, talking, typing smog cloud bud!

Well, I get accused for "not playing the game" since I "whine early and often".

So, I APOLOGIZE FOR INFORMING THE MASSES!

Besides, it took enough subtle whining for PGI to fix Conquest rewards on a cap win.

I feel like adding the ability to tag yourself with a role or even a role and maybe a secondary role, that only your team would see, could be more than enough to strategize around. No need to see entire loadouts, just their role tag would do it. If I'm tagged "sniper," then you have all the info you need as my teammate.

Since when do you whine? I'm gotten some sarcasm in a few of your posts but not the bulk of them.

Because its absurd having 12 people type their loadouts in the chat. Especially without the ability to scroll up or see a chat log. You shouldnt have to ask for information that should be given to you freely.

Dunno what youre talking about. Every guild on WoW uses teamspeak/ventilo/mumble.

Typing "Sniper/Brawler/PopTart/etc/etc" is neither time consuming nor space intensive.

Couldn't hurt if more folks made better use of the "Loading Timer" perhaps.

Sooooo, riddle me this.

So if a group was allowed to drop with up to 12 players BUUUT there was a magic way to have MW block outside comms would this be fair?

If 8 could form and fill with 4 solo BUUT none were on comms would this be an advantage?

We at the moment are dropping with 12 with no comms and the only difference is the comms. Wake the hell up and stop blaming people for dropping in groups.

You're reading too much into my post...

It's not about "being competitive" or being part of some steamrolling conglomerate out for grins and giggles at the expense of ruining some other players day.

It's about being part of a bigger picture and fostering the aspect of the game that encourages play deeper than some random pew-pew-pew...

If all you got out of that assembly of words... you've got a deep rooted issue that's beyond my capacity to salve.

As I thought I clearly stated... I too, at one point saw premades as boogiemen and harbored some irrational distrust and dislike.

And I'm still pro-solo... That said I'm advocating for something bigger than some butt-hurt I recieved 15 years ago. I'm talking about the direction PGI is willing to go with MW:O that is rift with concessions that will effectively neuter so many of the original pillar tenants and could (long term) religate this game to some quasi-FPS shooter's lack of depth and and stunt the community's growth.

I've advocating for something bigger than just "me".

This. The data show that groups are made up of less than 16% of the population. Also people like monkey for get that simply following other mechs and shooting their targets is almost as effective as a group.

Also its arrogant to think you can only be stomped by a group. Its also stupid. Combat loss grouping FTL.

Comms I will give you, but what reason do you have to need to see my Mechs load-out? Assuming it would happen after we load in, it doesn't really matter then does it, because it can't be changed for that Match anyways.

If what you really want is to be able to grief others, over in game-comms, about what a shitty build I currently have, well then, I prefer you not get that chance.

It could be a lot more but humans suck and any time you give a potential advantage to a group of players (4 mans) they will do everything they can to lord it over other people and thusly ruin their chance at a fair gameplay experience. I am all for depth and teamwork etc. but the main market to target is the plug and play crowd and their gameplay experience should come first. If they can find a workable solution in which teamwork cannot be exploited to dominate and stomp PUGS then I will support it fully. But it seems like PGI has chosen the gameplay model that is most difficult to balance and in which imbalances become most apparent: team-based non-respawning shooter in which all mechs/weapon systems should be balanced against one another based only on tonnage, crits, and heat. Certain weapon are meant to be better but more rare/expensive making certain weapons (like small lasers) nearly useless.

Adding a respawning, semi-respawning, or limited lives/drop mode would do well to offset/disguise imbalances. I would also love to see a mode where spawn with x amount of money and then they buy a mech that is either a trial or mech they customized and work/fight to get enough money to afford a more powerful mech, and the mode has respawning and has battles meant to last like 30 mins to an hour. Pretty much hour mechwarrior living legends was. That makes it much easier to balance since an assault mech with XL engine, DHS, endo-steel and gauss/LL will and should be better than a standard engine medium mech wielding medium and small lasers.

TL;DR add more modes and modes with respawning/limited drops so that min/max doesn't cause as huge landslides as currently tend to be the case.

The only way this ever happens if there is a completely separate solo queue. Period.

All things being equal, two guys shooting one kills faster than two guys shooting two guys. It's what makes LRMs sweet in lower-ELO (read: players who cannot into team) matches. They create focus fire, simulating team play to an extent- which is extra-effective on less organized teams.

Teams laugh at people who have a fundamental disconnect on the subject. As long as there's one MM for both groups and solo players, the solo player is fodder. And at this point, I think at best PGI doesn't have the capacity to handle it,at worst they're enjoying watching the PUGs suffer.

The moral of the story is you can either work within the system and adapt or try to rail against the injustices of things beyond your control and gnash your teeth in frustration.

Should PUGs have a better means to communicate (ie: VOIP, comm rose, etc)??? Yes but it's not here at the moment (if ever) so either join a group or get used to working against the odds.

You could try appealing to the devs but they don't seem to read these forums or make changes based on what players are asking for so you are probably just spinning your wheels there.

For example, me as a solo driver (PUG) in freeway traffic thinks it is unjust that a soccer mom and her 2 year old baby (premade) can drive in the car pool lane while I can't. I can get mad about it all I want in traffic and stew over it but it won't change anything so I choose to ignore it. I could write my senator (PGI) about it but nothing will probably change so I don't worry about things outside my control. If I really wanted to, I could find someone to carpool with that is going in the same direction at the same time of day (premade/unit) but I choose not to so I get stuck in traffic every day (rolled by premades).

I hate the pure LRM Atlas. Why buy a 100 ton behemoth if all you're going to do is park it in the back? It would be like loading a STD 100 engine in a Locust 3S so that you could put an LRM20 on it. Such a waste.

I have little respect for most Pure Fire Support builds. You have to be able to respond to a close threat in a pinch!

I'm self-admitted, and a chronic one at that.

But seriously, it's easier to construct my points w/o sounding ragey. I don't think it always works because there's nothing like trying to win the last match of the night... on Mordor.... I mean... I can't always be composed every time I post. It would be unnatural!

I will not join a team just to "feel" competitive, I have been on the receiving end of too many stomps across a wide range of gaming thanks to groups of people who have nothing better to do with their lives than ruin online experiences for others. I have a moral obligation to speak for and support the enjoyment of all players regardless of skill/group lines. Solo and lone wolves players should absolutely be able to feel competitive without being forced into spending time and energy finding a group every time they play the game or be at a significant disadvantage.

I absolutely think every player (including groups) should be able to enjoy the game as they want but anything over 2 players per group in the main PUG queue makes balancing much more difficult as 4 coordinated and synergized mechs can easily be able to pull the weigh of 6+ average players. Then have another queue for sizes 1 - ~8 ish, then another for dedicated 12 mans. Let the queues decide which is the most fun for people.

That or same queues as now but allow the possibility of 3 groups of 4 to be matched together and forced to play in the 12 man queue. Helps decrease 12 man queue times and gives dedicated 4 coordinated mans a taste of their own medicine in the form of "challenging" opponents instead of the typical PUG.

Well said.

I still don't get why PGI hasn't tried modifying the current two queues into:

1) solo-only
2) any size groups and solo

This should satisfy EVERYBODY from a competitive standpoint, and would absolutely rejuvenate group-play. Any difficulty in filling grouped matches would be self-corrected by groups being able to pull in additional individual players, and also by solo players that would be increasingly drawn to matches involving competently co-ordinated teammates.

Even better said is;

Solo Que (single drop only) 12vs12
Group Que + Solo (ANY size team) 12vs12

This is how it should have been AGES ago. Not the current 1-4 and separate 12. That gap is ridiculous and unnecessary! Too many restrictions makes for a stale game.
