Does no one else see the potential of CW and/or factions to fill this "groups between 5 and 11" gap? It just seems so obvious to me but I haven't seen anyone mention it (to be fair I stopped reading at page 8 because who has that kind of time).

If you're faction aligned, you drop with however many you like and the rest gets filled with your faction partisans. You participate in the faction conflict du jour and continue to love your life. I honestly think that this is where the attention to the in-game comms went, that it was intended as a faction thing.

You have to remember that they're designing the finished game. With all elements present. Of which we've so far only seen a tiny fraction and are only just starting so see more. Whether you think they're competent to achieve it or not is irrelevant. They're designing the end-point. We're trying to 2nd guess step 9 of 25, without knowing anything about anything beyond step 11.

And at best you have 3 4man groups on 3 different TS... Unless you do the Marik Mash Up(not used as a insult, I just like how it sounds!)... Not the best way to be a team.

IDK, I don't write this stuff? It's not my company? LOL :)

Maybe its because they pitch the whole IS vs Clan wars and they feel Solo PUG's need to be a part of that because thats the marketing they made?

Maybe its because they don't want to split the population cause it will crash MM and team players have no one to play?

Maybe it's because they don't have a Solaris environment ready to go and if PUG's are 84% of the population they have no where to play?

Important thing on the 12 man thing though. It is represented here abouts that PGI are catering to the 12 man and the PUG's with this launch module, but thats not quite accurate.

The 12 man function that is here today is just not being closed, it's being relabelled so to speak. It's not a new feature (like the Premium matches) being introduced with the Launch module. IDK if it's getting some window treatments, but they certainly talk about it as if its the same function currently in game.

Towards the end of Podcast 105 #1 (when I suspect all the "Team Players" blood has already gone past listening to anymore) they talk about their expectation that 12 mans will move towards the Premium match environment as it better suits their needs, but they are not turning the current function off (atm) and will see what the patronage is.

So its not really the case to say that PGI are showing "more love" to 12 man than 5 - 11 with this module, its just the same love that they have not flicked the switch on. Although the argument is that they have getting "more love" for longer, but the Launch Module is not new love :D

Then they don't know our needs. I don't need a Premium match to play the game I was sold. I was sold a game where Lyrans would be fighting Jade Falcons and/or Wolves On Zoetameer... winner gets the planet losers buy the beer. That is the game many of us are here for.

Well tbh, thats exactly what PGI have said, the they are reviewing the 5 - 11 demographic as it goes and have some goals.

The problem however is that they removed the function in Beta and "promised" to bring it back. Now that it's being brought back at a cost (albeit a nominal one as PGI describe it, I think "minimal" was the word they used) it's caused an outcry of injustice for some which we can empathise with, but we cannot change.

So at this moment, the current proposal is not good enough for that demographic and this thread is about circumnavigating the intention of the Launch Module to implement the 5 - 11 preferred game play model, knowing that it will perperuate the same problem PGI are trying to fix.

Your sentiment you express yes, absolutely. The quote though is a different context. I was highlighting that the function is already in game, it's not a new function (not that I have tested it, but that's the gist of his commentary).

You've said it how many times Joseph? The current state of the game is not "The Game". Launch Module is another step on the journey, but it's not "The Game".

The Lauch Modules are not The Game I am here for. I am getting bored not hearing what is being done for the folks who want to play the game not private matches.

Half your luck, at least you're not bored by the game yet like I am :)

IDNK what to say, their communication leaves a lot to be desired. I mean there's not even a central point for current stuff. It's on Twitter for three days before it gets to NGNG and another 2 days later its on Forums, or vica versa.

If I wasn't sitting on 30 years of loving the franchise and literally over a hundred source books / novels I'd have moved on a long time ago.

All I can say is that if you want to play in small teams of 4 or less, you can play the game for free with rewards and with all the benefits of comms and laughs etc. If you want to play in teams of 5 - 11, the game isn't in that space (yet?)

Maybe the planets align when CW gets here?

Nope you are not any of My Alts! I had to check that sounds like me. Look up Cpt Gail Piazzi in Google. one of the first entries will be the Redfield Renegades... My love of the game ended up with my daughter as a Named Character in the canon!

Go home Joseph, you're drunk. :D

Canon has only ever had a Redfield Renegades, never a Red Field Renegades :)

The Ostsol is the Mech of Captain Gail Piazzi. This was painted BEFORE CamoSpecs and to me is the real color scheme of the Renegades. At the end of the game each player got to take their Mech home with them to commemorate their being in a contest to be part of the canon.

I have no idea what you are talking about... I spelled it correctly! :o

Spelling, I only looked at the 3025 Davion book and there is no <space> between Red and Field in that? IDK, subsequent print version? Did they see action in the 4th? I think they did, 1st wave a big name Cap planet? I'll check its spelling there :)

Nice collection though, I haven't seen a Guillotine for some time (not one I picked up unfortunately)

When a pilot makes a mistake and find themselves surrounded by four mechs, they are obliterated in 2 seconds - that's because of mechanics, not because of the lack of skill of the doomed pilot or the excellent skills of the ganging pilots, no matter if they are on TS or just solo pilots.

If I ever find myself surrounded by four mechs and get killed in seconds, I:
  • blame myself for getting into that situation in the first place
  • blame myself for not getting out of there in a jiffy
  • do not blame anyone or anything else
It was I who caused it and therefore I am solely to blame.

LOL, You edited it??

Cheater cheater :)

I reconise the most of the others, in order left to right: Lynx, unsure?, Ostol, Longbow ? (in background), Tempest, Shadowhawk (new one with the LRM20) and Guillotine.

Is the second left a Quad mech?

Lynx, GOLIATH, Ostsol, Longbow(the ugly version), Tempest, & Griffin. The Goliath spend the majority of the match Hulled down... it was the Project Phoenix variant with a Gauss!

At one point my daughter ran up a hill and during physical phase kicked the cockpit out of the Archer n the Lonestar side! She is a brutal B*tch on a map!

I am so proud!

I remember teaching a guy to play for the first time, gave him a Centurian so he could get a feel for weapon ranges and heat impact.

I took a Phoenix Hawk to show him how the movement affected targetting.

I closed to 10 hexes on the run.

He fires the AC 10 first shot, rolls 11, hit, 12, head, PHX 6 armour 3 internal, dead.

I said, OK, you know how to play.

normally I agree with that sentiment.
The normal poll around here gets a few dozen responses
a "popular" poll that's been running for a while might get a few hundred and that's considered a "good" poll for the forums

3PV poll?
THOUSANDS voted no

Maybe the Off forum "Yes" Player base was larger back then... :)
