Can we please have a 'real' inventory tab that when you click on it you can see ALL items owned, like you would expect? You should see at a glance ALL modules owned; ALL engines owned; All weapons owned; basically EVERYTHING you OWN, just categorized. Currently you can only see what you do not have equipped. This does not qualify as an 'inventory' function. This should be a SUB-category of inventory. To reiterate, INVENTORY, should allow you to view EVERYTHING you currently OWN.

For example, this function will be handy when purchasing mechs. If I'm looking at buying a certain mech I can see if I have the appropriate engine in my INVENTORY. Depending on my INVENTORY and C-BILL count, I can gauge whether I'm ready to purchase said mech.

Not to go crazy or anything but perhaps next to each owned item there can be a checkbox that, when 'checked,' that would indicate that it is currently equipped.

Not to blow anyone's mind now, but maybe, just maybe, if that equipped box is checked, the name of the mech it is equipped on can be shown right next to it.

Now I know this is a lot to ask, but with baby steps, I'm sure we can achieve an inventory system that is both functional and user-friendly.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

PS. Integrating sale of inventory items in this IMPROVED inventory system would be both efficient and smart.

I'd honestly like to see how many points of Armour I have too.

They could also list it that way:

AC/5 - total = 15 : 10 + 5 in use on 2 mechs
or
AC/5 - 15 : 10 free, 5 equipped on 2 mechs
or
AC/5 : 10 + 5 equipped on 2 mechs
or
(insert your suggestion)

When you place cursor over equipped, a popup would display mech names.

the information u get in the lab is all around horriable ,so many things you used to be able to see at a glance and cant now. about the only thing that is better with the new UI is mech selection....

That'd be nice.
3 Columns: Equipped, Available and Total.

Not bad.. I think the second suggestion is the most intuitive. I do however really like the pop-up idea that will show where the items are equipped. Very good because the pop-up wouldn't take up any permanent real-estate on the screen.

I'd really like to know why they changed it from what it was the last time I played (2-3 months?) It was incredibly easy to use, and see what exactly your mech had in terms of loadouts and armor. This is LITERALLY 3 steps back, and the main reason why I played one match and logged out today. Very sad about this, I really don't understand why you need to make something more difficult because someone in marketing believes it somehow 'looks' better. Unfortunate is that someone like me getting turned away, means that you will be losing new players like you wouldn't believe.

Drag and drop was too 'easy' I guess, we need a challenge even building our mechs now.

The UI needed an overhaul because the old one limited technical advances in some way or other... why they hired a proctologist to design it is anybody's guess.

I like that.. what if they offered 'achievements' for being able to find a module in under 10 minutes? Maybe call it 'Needle in a Haystack' and make it worth 10,000GXP.

It is very bizarre. There are so many good examples of UI's out there, but it seems they are marching to the beat of their own, unintuitive, drum. It's almost like they don't want to copy another UI so they can say they created theirs from scratch. They are trying to reinvent the wheel and it's coming out square!

Maybe you cheapskates should, you know, actually buy enough items to fully equip all of your 'Mechs, instead of swapping that one 300XL engine or whatever between five different 'Mechs. You've all been playing long enough to have some good C-Bill stockpiles if you didn't just spend willy-nilly. I have 37 'Mechs, and even the ones I don't pilot all that often are fully equipped with engines, weapons, and equipment.

And those of you with the rosy view of UI1.5 ... the inventory didn't show equipped items there, nor did it show which 'Mechs had which items/modules equipped. There were less clicks, but that's about it.

A Smurfy-like drag and drop interface is coming -- they're looking to have it before the Clan 'Mechs hit.

Oh, and DeadEye, they have this button called Mech Details (near the feet of the 'Mech in the Mech Lab) that lists exactly what's on the 'Mech, including engine, heat sinks, weapons, armor, equipment, modules, and even colors, pattern, and cockpit items.

I had the same thought when I first started playing this game.. but as I gained experience I realized it just isn't worth the money. I would rather buy a new mech than an engine. PGI can't expect the average gamer to buy multiples of any engine. It's not feasible. People with jobs are those that contribute most to the game (money wise) and these same people just don't have the time. Now if it's a favourite mech that I enjoy playing.. I do have it outfitted and ready to go at all times.

As for modules, I only have multiples of advanced zoom, my fav module. I also love seismic but I am in no way buying multiples of that at 6mill a piece. I don't know about you but I have better things to do with my time than grind for days just for a single module.

UI 1.5 had its' faults but this new one has just as many, if not more. It really is a pain to use with all the clicking and mouse dragging. Not much of a step forward is all I'm sayin. The 'Mech Details' feature came long-after UI 2.0 was released upon us. This should have been a BASIC feature right from the start.. but UI 2.click is a topic for another forum :)
