We might find out in some random PUG at some point in time. Until then, neither of us can prove the other wrong.

I will agree to that. I'm sure it will happen eventually! :)

If Amsro and I like fast mechs it means we probably wont be near the slow mechs that could use an additional AMS for a "umbrella" or "blancket" effect. So for those of us who prefer speed the BAP can be much more useful, AMS not so much.

Anything running streaks (cancels ECM within 180m)
Anything running LRM's (cancels ECM mechs close to you that prevent you from targeting anything, and allows faster locks)

Not usually a mech running ECM (they don't stack the cancelling bonus)...but that's just me.

Took the BAP out of the LRM boat. First game without it. Added another ton of ammo, shaved off some leg armor and added another medium laser. I know a single anecdote is not reliable, but hey, for what it's worth..

You can probably run an LRM boat fine without BAP. However, you might be kicking yourself later if an ECM light breaks your ranks. I've got some nice modules now (adv range, adv seismic) which I didn't have before so I don't need the range extendor of BAP and if seismic catches a light I can at least face up and give him 3 MLs. However, I always have TAG on my BLR-1S when I'm boating. Good for those DDCs at midrange.

Exactly. The same goes for not taking TAG, and then finding ECM around most of the enemy team. Without that gear, an LRM mech becomes useless way to often.

BAP isn't exclusive to LRM boats and they probably don't profit as much from it as other builds do but if you feel you can spare the tonnage, it can be a great addition. I think well-rounded multipurpose builds are the ones that benefit from BAP the most.

Having not read the rest of the posts I risk being repetitive but here my view;

Increased sensor range: Good for people working with weapons beyond the standard sensor range of 800 to 920. It is also cheaper than the module that does the same.

Counters 1 ECM (Range 150m): Nice for just about anybody, in particular LRM/SSRM heavy mechs, but also nice to have to counter ECM mechs dancing around your feet and your team not being able to target them with missiles.

Speeds up Target info Gathering: Also cheaper than the module. Good for quickly finding weak spots and focusing on those.

Detects powered down mechs within 180m: Makes finding that last powered down guy in Skermish that much easier. Also nice to countering ambushes.

SSRM & ECM; The big bonus is the increase in the "target window" (minimum/maximum target range) of SSRM heavy builds. You target window is increased by 25% which stacks with the Sensor range modules. Usually you have to get within 1/4 your sensor range for ECM mechs to turn up on your HUD and battle grid. Normally that is 200m, with BAP and Adv. sensor range it is 250m, almost max SSRM range. Upgrading to Artemis with SSRM mechs will further decrease the lock-on time (Artemis bug). Advanced Target decay also greatly increases SSRM efficiency as locks hold longer.
