I just checked out the rumors from Russ Bullocks twitter and aparently on the 15th we're getting a pack of variants, but not a new mech.

Not sure what to think about this, but then again some mechs only have 3 variants and could use some fleshing out?

After all, there is no rule saying we have to get a new mech every month.

Not a big deal to me. I still haven't mastered all the mechs I already own, or even got them to Elite.

I think this is what you're referring to. I am also curious. Not sure how serious the threads are but I've glanced through some talk of a 2nd Hero Raven mech. Maybe that's what he meant by "a set"

Edit: Ah further down Russ says they're releasing "variants but that's all I can say".

I really hope they do release the CN9-AH again, I simply cannot get enough C-bills to buy the CN9-D without buying an entire new chassis first..

Edit: (The blackjack in my signature is one of the many examples..)

Maybe they have finished working at "half" tons of Machine Gun ammo -
would bring the Victor 9A - although thanks to 2 Flammes and a Machine Gun it would be armed to the teeth.
(They really really should think about ANTI INFANTRY HARDPOINTS)

Or they have a mindblowing concept for One-Shot racks - for example a OS SRM4 turns out to be a Streak SRM 16 with a single volley - for no heat
Would bring the Quickdraw 5M

Or they implement MASC
I really look forward for the Wolverine 7D and 7M.... like the (P) but with MASC and i can choose the camo pattern of my liking

Or they simple close the "line"
BJ-2 (never understood why he never made it - missiles and energy)
AS7-S more missiles
Shadow Hawk K - PPC and LRM....nothing more (would be the "terribad" SHD - really a great balancing for MWO - that the most powerful SHD becomes the least powerful version)
Grand Dragon - similar to the Flame but for C-Bills
CN9-AH - HELL YES

And as a special guest the prototype of the Thunderbolt 7SE... that baby would be the dream of every poptarter: Ballistic and Energy only + ECM
One of my sole favorites would be the CTF-0X... the prototype - 2 Medium Laser, PPC and AC 5 but electronic warfare equipment (for 4.5tons)

I personally would like to think that every mech has a "4th mech option" (and I don't mean the 4th option being a hero) for the sake of alleviating the mech choices to grind out.

With that said, it does get me curious.

We are discussing this here.

Here they are.

Some were left behind because similarities with hero mechs, like the DRG-1G and HBK-4N (and retroactively, the CN9-AH)

- Catapult CPLT-K3 (upgraded K2, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Centurion CN9-AH (slower, less zombie YLW, with missiles instead of lasers - no reason to don't give it back to us)
- Commando COM-1C (unique variant with ballistics)
- Dragon DRG-1G (all energy + missile variant, still unique despite the Flame)
- Dragon DRG-5K or (even better) Dragon DRG-5K-DC (Command Console! or even ECM capability for the ugly duckling chassis)
- Hunchback HBK-4N (interesting ballistics + missiles variant - OK, it overlaps with the Grid Iron, but who wants that hero anyway?)
- Hunchback HBK-5M (upgraded 4G, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Jenner JR7-A (not going to happen, as 6 energy harpoints in one location would be weird)
- Atlas AS7-S (Kurita going big, the king of Atlases. Missiles in the center torso and tons of guns)
- Cataphract CTF-3L (MASC!)
- Cicada CDA-3F (is it already 3052? because I want my jumping Cicada!)
- JagerMech JM6-B (created by MW2:M but sort of canonized ever since. JM with energy + missiles and no ballistics!)
- Raven RVN-1X (bulky and older EW equipment that could be replaced by ECM and Beagle, with some free tons for... armor?)
- Raven RVN-3X (1X with Triple Strength Myomer)
- Spider SDR-7M (upgraded 5V, not much room for hardpoint maneuver)
- Trebuchet TBT-5S (TBT with 4 missile hardpoints, but less tubes)
- Stalker STK-3Fb (Stalker with ECM? unlikely...)
- Highlander HGN-732b (like the STK above, it is a SLDF Royal exclusive)
- Locust LCT-1S, Locust LCT-1M, Locust LCT-1Vb, Locust LCT-1E, Locust LCT-3V, Locust LCT-1L, Locust LCT-3D (swarm!)
- Blackjack BJC-1DB, Blackjack BJ-3X (hardpoint conundrum)
- Blackjack BJ-2 (only in 3052...)
- Kintaro KTO-19b (SLDF Royal)
- Shadow Hawk = tons of variants
- Wolverine = tons of variants
- Griffin = tons of variants
- Battlemaster = tons of variants
- Thunderbolt = tons of variants
- Victor VTR-9A, Victor VTR-9A1 (OMG, please!)
- Firestarter F59-S1 (stock ECM, not going to happen)
- Banshee BNC-3MC (BNC-3E with more ballistics and less energy?)
- Banshee BNC-3Q (imagine a BNC-3E without weapons in the right torso and 3 more ballistics in the left torso)
- Banshee BNC-5S (armed to the teeth, but only 3053)

This is because I woke up before the sun came up. :)
(beat that Strum!)

I'd love to see more variants of existing chassis!

It would be fun overall, add more options, and fill out the poor chassis that are saddled with 3 variants currently.

Yay! More mechs for me to decide that I may or may not want which means that I've got to sell my current mechs to buy these and then upgrade these and then finish out the efficiences on these!!! Jeez! Give me some content and stop with the mech surge.

been hoping for this for a long time. Let's hope they chose wisely.

(CN9-AH, HBK-4N, DRG-1G/5K)

Catapult-3C and Cataphract-3L would be lovely, because they would mean we get MASC(finally!) and Arrow IV. Then wait for the "no skill" QQing to really begin.

I'd like to see the FS9-S1 but realize that it would OP the Firepower line up, and cause nerfs to come neuter all my lovelies. So instead of seeing my Firestarters hit with the Victor Hammer, I think I will live without. Ditto with a lot of other variants.

I see three possibilities:
  • MASK enabled 'Mechs: CTF-3L, WVR-7D, WVR-7M and no Flea? not likely - lowest probability
  • Grand Dragons family: DRG-1G, DRG-1GKDC, DRG-5K - we need ECM heavy + Dragon needs weapons visuals
  • The year 3050 "latest" (too many variants to list) - it's PGI after all, random illogical option - highest probability
I would be really glad to Grand Dragon, especially to ECM one.

Definitely want to see the CN9-AH in the group. I think the DRG-1G/5K would also be great. Higher top speed - might make the DRG more popular again. Same for the AWS-9Ma... Wanna fix the barn door syndrome? Give it ECM ;) In any case my guess is we'll see variants of mechs that haven't had their visual customizations done yet - and don't have hero's on the way. Nothing but a wild guess on my part though.

Its going to be variants of the mechs from phoenix pack they haven't managed to make because they were on crunch time.

If they release a Dragon/Awesome with ECM, I would hold off on complaining about the unfinished game (for a little while, anyways).

I seriously hope not. There at so many other mechs that need some refreshing.

It wouldn't surprise anyone.
