The Light Show! Damn, this mech is more awesome than I thought! LOL! If you fully elite it, it has a sustained DPS of 5 on the dot.

Yes, I seriously play that mech, and yes, it gets results.

I concede - 8.54 is the best so far, and I'm not sure I can top it. :)

Can anyone go on smurfy and make an all energy build on any mech which has a sustained DPS of 5?

I think there is a cap for energy weapons, seems like a design flaw which would favor ballistics and really hurt energy hp only mechs.

Raise the heat on ballistics if this is the case.

As you can see yes, but they aren't exactly useful. I'd rather put 106 damage into a target quickly to take the enemy out of the fight as quickly as possible, using something like this (if I use an all energy build). In an extended brawl sustained DPS is meaningful, but in most situations it isn't. You'll notice that without using PPCs, as during a close range brawl, that Banshee can still sustain almost 5 DPS. You do your 5 DPS using small lasers, I'll just fight for 5 seconds at a time.

But yes, energy builds and chassis are unloved, and will probably continue to be unloved until (insert your own longshot here). Then look at the tonnage and space requirements of ballistics and understand why a combination of weapons are preferred, and there you have the PPC + ballistic + jump jet builds that regularly dominate the battlefield.

As a final thought, if you could sustain a high DPS using only energy weapons, why would you waste tonnage on ballistics that are ammo dependent? Because ammo explosions and running out of ammo are fun? I'd just rock quad ER-PPCs, chain firing all willy nilly to mock ghost heat.
