Since you've got extra tonnage to spare, swap that ML in the arm for a MPL to avoid heat penalty on an alpha strike. It's cool enough to handle the minor heat increase. Also, the extra mobility in the arm make the MPL more useful than a ML vs any lights that get up in your face.

Eh, I could have done a few different builds, I just put that one together quickly to accept the challenge ;)

I'm just saying there is a balance problem in my eyes which causes energy weapons to be filler for any left over tons and choosing an energy only build should be more viable.

No DPS isn't everything, but if someone can't see that sustained DPS alone has such a huge gap, there has to be something wrong.

Question? Does "Sustained" mean an "Alpha" every Cool down or a chain fire setup? Also, under Smurf's values, what best represents a true "decent" heat %?

P.S. of course it would be based on a heat neutral map being selected.

It's the highest dps you can do without shutting down. Chain vs alpha doesn't matter in the long run.

Raise the heat on ballistics if this is the case.

BNC-3M 8.04, 5 Flamers, 2ML, LL.

Lasers and their Pulse equivalent are treated as the same thing for Ghost Heat.
I made it up to 8.04 with almost 10 tons free!

Trouble is Flamers are a bit Tricky due not a real show of the scaling heat they bring in combat.

Anyway i proudly bring you the Cheaper 6.86 DPS fully operational with minimal upgrade needs ;)

Yeah, realisticly, that would be better (hell, dropping a few heat sinks and replacing a ML with a LL still keeps it over 5SDPS, would be even better, and honestly, a mix on something else would be even better).

But, within the Challenge set, 8.04 is the best so far. ;)

One day I'd love to try out one of these silly builds, and I'll have to see what I can make work with the ones on my 'wishlist', and see if it's actually any good.
(I have no interest in Battlemasters, Banshees or the Boards Head, and of course the mech would need to be at least Elited to work.)

If I had a banshee I would try it. Hmmm Battlemaster 1G. Breaks the rules with 2 MG, but I might try it for for a few matches. 8.95. :unsure: Can always make a real build out of it if the trolling doesn't work.

There's definitely an art to boating effectively with energy weapons...but the trade-offs are worth it.

I really don't see very many discrepancies between weapon systems....at all.

The real problem in this game is the MATCHMAKER.
