awesome, lots of srm, or lrm, or energy weapons
both fold when hit, the jeagermeach tends to squeak around without being noticed, and the awesome while wide is not particularly wider than most of the other assaults, so my question is, which at the moment would be more entertaining. I've played both in the past, but that was months ago.

Wait... what? Are you trolling me
And while I dont absolutely love either I do like the Jaeger ALOT more. Just more fun, and effective. Awesomes can be effective It just takes alot more patience, and practice. Im not a very patient person usually, so Awesomes arent for me.

Jeager is always better.
Hopefully they'll do something for the poor Awesome like give it ECM or something.

The Awesome is also kinda fun if you enjoy the challenge. the 9M, 8V and 8R are all fairly viable in some roles despite the difficulties the chassi has over mechs like the Victor.
Edit: I'd go for the Jager simply because it offers a few unique opportunities compared to the Awesome.

Yes, there are far less flattering and accurate ways to describe it.
One thing to note when when comparing the awesome to the jager: while it's true jagers are not known for durability, they are vastly more agile than the walking wall that is the awesome, have to expose less of themselves to fire and as such tend to be more survivable than the awesome.
Cover = infinity armor.

I beg to disagree.
From my expirience it is very important to position yourself with Awesome, and you are prety good.
Awesome is a support mech, and it should not be used in close combat.
Except AWS-8V which I run with 3xLL, 1ML, SRM 14+artemis.

Yet those comments can also apply to the stalker, only the stalker, in addition to not being a massive target has better hardpoint placement and tanks damage like a... well tank. The battle zeppelin has amazing convergence and it's profile combined with hardpoints make it the still reigning king of JJ-less hill humpers.
There is always the option of shoving a massive engine in the awesome and turning it in to one of those speedy assaults but there again you have better options, by way of the battlemaster and banshee.

ZZTop pretty much covered it. The only redeemable factors(barely) for the awsome is its speed and torso twist. If you are not utilizing those streanghts you are better of with a Stalker.
Tho they are different beasts. I can understand ppl who like AWS more than STK.
My opinion is STK wrecks AWS any day of the week in any condition and so does all of the other assaults. AWS is a bottom feeder. But i dont own AWS so its wrong for me to piss on it.
Edit: Stalkers have a very good hero with a balistic hardpoint and a dual AMS variant. Pretty Baby... well its fast with a superb torso twist (and a crappy deacceleration)

Almost all mech XP bonuses right now are movement related which heavily favours mechs that already are designed around mobility like the Highlander or the Victor.

I like the Awesome. In fact I like it more than any other mech, including the Jager, though I do enjoy the Jager.

I fear no assault in my Awesomes, and do love the way other assault pilots will blindly charge my Awesome because they think they smell an easy kill. I will go toe to toe with any assault in any Awesome (except the 8T as that's the only one I don't own) and win.

The Awesome, however has... well, not much going for it. I won't say it is useless - it is the most mobile assault mech, and I do like how far it can swing its big arms to sweep moving targets - but its fragility and dependence on either hot weapons (energy) or unreliable weapons (missiles, currently), makes it hard to play. The Awesome is basically a form of "hard mode" - but if you can master them, you will be respected for doing so. Nothing quite tweaks foes off more than seeing a "useless" Awesome wreck their faces... well, a Locust wrecking face is worse, but that's about it.
Disclaimer: I love Awesomes, and do rather well in them, but I'm not a pro, so there are probably people out there who are downright SCARY in them, so it can be done.

Once we get CW I don't think any Unit will allow the Awesome. In PUGs you can do what you like and who cares if you lose. In CW that all changes.
