Not the "I killed twenty mechs with a million damage in one game" stuff, but the good stories.
Stories of the hard fights that make this game so great, despite all its weaknesses.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I had a game, not a stomp and not super close, just a normal game on Forzen City Night in skirmish.
I was taking my Trebuchet 5J for a walk, had some good fighting, lots of jumping, twisting and turning and wasn´t in a really good shape anymore. My center was cored but not badly damaged, but my left leg was cherry red. Towards the end of the match, the other team had two mechs standing, we had five left.
One of the others was an Atlas, a bit damaged but nothing serious.
As every good, agressive medium pilot I attacked him with high speed, a Jenner from my team by my side.
But soon we realized, that guy was good. Allthough we had a serious advantage in maneuverability he managed to keep us from his back most of the time, I only managed to get one or two good shots in his back when he shot at the Jenner. And then he backed towards a wall slugging with all of his guns and giving us a hard time.
As soon as I managed to get on the bulding on his back he had turned and backed up on the building on the opposite side of the street and kept fighting. I was mid air most of the time, and in the 90s of my heatscale all the time, trying to get in his back and place a good shot to take him out.
And then I had the chance, I jumped over him, turning mid air. There was his back, right in front of me. I placed everything on one card, alphastriking in his back and forcing my Mech to shutdown.
But it wasn´t enough. This was the mistake we both had waited for, and I was the one who made it. He turned towards me and took his time lining up the shot. Only fractions of a second before he died, with an single, well placed alphastrike he executed me.
I tip my hat to you sir, this was the single best fight I had for weeks!
