According to Mechwarrior fans that franchise never happened though.

It was an even bigger departure from the core mechanics of the series than MWO and MWLL combined. ;)

It think for people it was less the 3rd person as it turned MW into a arcadey shooter much like say Hawken. Small things like that every time a mech would explode it would go nuclear, and fake non-TT stuff like the Warhammer Missles, and the Ragnorok also probably peturbed people.

Still, as someone who dived into the series through MW:DA, it was a fun game, and if anything, I can safely say with the exception of one mission(where I had to used the promethius to just cut through it), anytime I could use the Mad Cat during the game I did, and ended up getting all the way through to the fight agianst the Big Boss before I had taken a single knockdown(and when that knockdown occured was right as he died)

I get what your saying that it made a lot of stuff up, but if there is anything that Microsoft got right when they made MechAssault 2, it was the Blood Asp/ Death Adder with Plasma PPCs. SO wish that was actual lore and not just made up.

If PGI ever allows people to make client side only weapon skins, plasma ppcs will be the first on the list to make for me.

So can someone explain to me like to a six-year old that why are some people posting pony shit into this thread and not being banned from MWO forums?

Because the pony "shit" is not negative or hateful?
And does not break the EULA in any way shape or form?

Edit: you feel it is wrong - then you push the little "Report" button at the bottom of the post and you... GASP!

Report it to the mods.

Ya don't complain about it.

Ah the Mech Assault games my first time experiencing BT, but according to Mechwarrior fans that franchise never happened though.

I never played MA as I never bought an XBox, but I'm willing to bet it's still better than the SNES Mechwarrior game, or the gods awful Dark Age. Heck the 'Jihad' never happened either as far as I'm concerned.

Back on topic, for me my fondest memories when it comes to clan mechs involve the Vulture (Maddog) with MW2&3 as well as in the Virtual Worlds pod simulators. I use to just wreck the other competitors in it or in my Avatar.

Just curious, didn't plan on making a lawsuit out of it. It was my impression that ponies are not allowed in MWO forums outside the pony thread.

Good for you then - a lot of the people who bring the ponies up are trying to.
(I, personally, have not had enough exposure to the ponies to care one way or the other)

I have been told that several times by users - but none of them have found a quote from the moderators about it.
Or rather, several of them have claimed to have quotes - but never could produce said quotes. :)

I would assume that ponies are just as allowed as transformers or any other brand - so long as you don't use them to drag the topic off-topic, or use them to break the EULA in other ways, it's safe.

(edit: I hate getting logged out mid-post :()

Unified health meter (IE: one health bar - shooting their foot was the same as hitting the cockpit/left shoulder/whatever)

Unique battle-armor that let you cling to the back of mechs - force the pilot to eject, then climb in yourself and pilot the mech (after climbing out of the armor - but without replacing the pilot seat/cockpit)
Not to mention outfight Elementals single-handed.

Health/armor/weapon upgrades lying on the ground - running over them picked it up and auto-upgraded your machine

Timberwolf and Madcat were two different machines (and treated as such in the descriptions/gameplay)

Forced 3pv

Unlimited ammo (save for the aforementioned upgrades)

The DS one had a tech-turned-pilot (the intro video is implied to be the first time she climbed into a mech to pilot it) outfighting an "Elite" group (forget exactly who)

And that was just off the top of my head.

They were fun - but they had no connection to Mechwarrior/Battletech beyond the names (Steiner, Timberwolf, PPC and such) and mech imagery.

The reasons I dislike MechAssault and MechAssault 2:Lone Wolf:
1. Mechs with two dfiferent names act like different variants whether they are Inner Sphere designations (Timber Wolf & Mad Cat[IS designation]), named after a different mech or faction (Blood Asp & Star Adder, Catapult & Bowman, Cougar & Puma) or completely made up (Uziel & Belial, Owen & Hackman).
2. No heat penalty or shutdowns
3. All Mechs turn at a 360 degree angle when you enter them
4. It takes place the Jihad Era (You are fighting the Word of Blake after all).
5. No loss of weapon systems or limbs
6. The only limited ammo you have are upgraded weapons
7.You can't swim in water, you're a badass from the Wolf's Dragoons, and you can't even swim?
8. And what Shar Wolf said

Though I will say that neurohacking mechs and the game's good music are the best features. I also noticed that the Battle Armor in MA2:LW is actually the FWL's Longinus Battle Armor.

mechassault is an arcade shooter, a damned good one at that, it is NOT a simulator. They looked good, they sounded good, they were fun, but if you compare them to mechwarrior or demand similar features you're gonna have a bad time. That's like biting into an apple expecting it to taste like roast beef.

I hope they decide to add a Mad Dog later on. That was the best 60 tonner!
