basic green.

Want you Yen-lo to not stand out like a sore thumb

paint it noob green

cover up those stars on your illy

paint it noob green.

I've 'wasted' a lot on various camo colours trying to make my mechs look pretty.

but until camo actually has some benefit like *** and WoT the sensible choice is to make your mech look like its fresh out the box.

Get those suckers charging the newb only to find out to late..it ain't a freshman, get them double guessing, when the lighting and explosions start and it get busy, who has time to read the mech variant..

seriously the only camo that works like camo is supposed to is

BASIC GREEN

painted my new to me heavy metal green after the 3rd match. that pink target got focused on way too much. same with YLW one or 2 games then green. i went through a black phase but that was not as good as green. now that damn jester... while not purple anymore, i just could not bring myself to paint over that grin. it is dark green and green with a bit of yellow. :(

Dark colours work on some maps, especially Terra Therma.

Most of the time, people focus on the newbie first, so the BASIC GREEN mech.

If you paint your mech with scary camo or funny colors, your ennemies will focus first on your teamate in BASIC GREEN, so you will have the time to make them PAY!!

But for the hero variants, it's true they go for you first. In my Heavy metal, all in pink, i was the first to take the damages..... But the worst in the game is the Ilya Muromets. It's always the first to take the shots... So paint it green? I have to test!

In fact it's a pretty good idea! =)
But with the radar, the trick is very limited... And there is no hero mech with ECM...

@loopala : i've see your green heavy metal on the battlefield, that was the surprise of the game =D

Some of my mech are all in white. In Alpine Peaks, it's impossible to snipe them when i'm out of ennemies radar =)
It's working too in Frozen City, but the map is too small, and the radar is working anytime because of the size of the map...
But when you go to Terra Therma with mech paint in white... You're a free target!

I would make an argument 4 all black. For many of the shadowy maps this works great and I do not feel that it is a detriment on snow maps like Alpine anymore so then basic green.

Aye, the added benefit of black is the difficulty to detect damage visually (moreso when coupled with ECM). That was quite sneaky back in the good old days of MW4 (used to run Night Ops - Nightmare camo in MP3.1). Ah, the memories =)

Put black on the list please and carbon fiber if it's not too much of a hassle (glossy and matte would be nice). Thank you ^^

I consider Basic Green as quite bright, at least easy to distinguish from terrain on any map, so - no, your advice doesn't work as intended. Instead I prefer to use dark colors on my Mechs - it makes Mech harder to notice on big distances, especially when magic invisibility from fairy ECM covers me. It also help sometimes to live longer, as brightly colored Mechs become primary target instead of you, just because they are easier to notice.

Black definitely helps, especially on night/dark maps at longer ranges. It can occasionally mean in shadowy areas people miss you entirely, and even on snowy maps being in the right places can mean you blend in with a rocky area.

You're missing the point. The paint aint about invisibility its about psychology. Good players, Units, dudes on TS and etc tend to put at least some cash into a game and rarely drop with a stock paintjob. Therefore those brightly colored mechs tend to catch more attention than the green assumed to be FTP puggers. Look less dangerous and you are treated as such. Trust me it works

Exactly.

The first thing I shoot are the Hero Mechs because they usally contain the better and more experienced Pilots.

No, sir, you are wrong, I got the point about "da nub mimicry" made by OP, but I think it doesn't worth a penny. For example, I do not care how my target is painted, except it's something fancy on occasion, and I do not expect or eager for easy kills to prey on the new players, so I do not understand neither the "noob-hunters", nor the "anti-noob-hunters" rhetoric on the topic. Pure pragmatism is my choice.

"Ultimate Camo In Mwo"

100% Black Paint job on Tera Therma....
I powered down and watched 4 beat up Mechs walk past me, one of them was less then 150 meters...

The Ultimate Camo is relevant to what map you're on.

If you want to fool people into thinking you're a noob, then yes noob green works.

I used to paint some of my Mechs Red, White and Blue.... But I kept on being asked if I was Russian, French, English, Icelandic... So on and so forth depending on what time of day I played.. LOL

So now it's just whatever...

Asides from the psychological aspect the best camo color is phoenix white (with the exception of terra therma). For the both city maps battleship grey mixed with phoenix white works very good.

Basic Green does not save you from the all mighty "R" key.
