This is how the rabbit hole begins.

Players: "We want to play this way"
PGI: "Ok, here's Premium Private Matches, you can do what you want for Premium Time, until we go to pay per play"
Players: "Um, we're still charged for consumables and we're not earning Cbills"
PGI: "Buy MC consumables, they're better anyway, right?"
Players: "Yeah, ok, but I'm not earning anything to buy new mechs"
PGI: "You can purchase Mechs for CBills, can't you?"
Players: "Yeah, I guess, kinda sucks that I have to buy MC chassis I won't keep in order to master, wait I can't master because I'm not earning XP"
PGI: "You can convert xp to gxp and back with MC"
Players: "Sigh, yeah, I guess... but I can't buy modules or weapons without Cbills"
PGI: "Good news, you can now buy Cbills for MC. Problem solved"
:)

I'm all for companies making money, but make me WANT to spend the money, not HAVE to spend the money.

Guys, please remember.

Stay peaceful, we don't want to get mods in here!

I am completely OK with those bundles and review them as logical alternative to grind in F2P game. Note, I'm not talking about value of the bundles or exchange rate, just about logic behind MC→C-Bills conversion. And I've expected such move since CBT, actually.

So, now the byline will be that "the economy doesn't need fixing, because you can buy C-bills for MC if you're really feeling strapped."

That's disheartening.

Hey, maybe now they can do something about this whole camo pattern BS they have going on. You know, rather than buying the same pattern for a different mech each and every you get a new mech, maybe they can do it to where once you buy the pattern, it's unlocked for that mech's weight class. (Unlock the scheme for a light - it's unlocked for all lights ect.)

That's unlikely to happen... because greed over logic.

Every time this gets posted, I watch it.

I used to enjoy spending money. Buying the mech packs, getting paint/patterns and cockpit items for my favorite mechs that'd I'd be keeping, etc.

Not to get all one trick pony, but as it's become obvious that the only way I WANT to play the game is going to be monetized, and the only way I can advance in the game, playing how I want to play, is completely monetized...

/sigh.

PGI could learn alot from watching the Extra Credits videos. They really could, but back on topic.

I just see it as them just trying to squeeze more money out of what they precieve as the "Whales" of the game. Nothing more.

Well it certainly pulled me out of my hermit cave to come and gripe on the forums, but after reading some of the comments I don't know what to think. I hadn't realized just how many other ways there were to trade your real money into c-bills, so at least its above the table so to speak.

I could see the point if it was cheaper than buying a mech for MC then selling it. Especially if it had an engine you wanted.
This way just doesn't make sense. Le shrug - PGI!

I think this has more to do with the upcoming CW and the 20 million per person (or whatever the number they gave was) C-Bill requirement to buy a dropship to start a Merc corp.

Which would cost you $100 and is only 1/12th of the cost of the dropship. Ouch. Please pay $1,200 to join CW in our F2P model.

You won the price for the most senseless post of the day.
Where should we ship it?

Actually, he's not that far from the truth.
Merc corps, operating as 12, will not be able to earn Cbills in the private match system, and it's been stated that the 12p queue is going to go away in interest of the Private Match System.
So it's farm the Derpherd for Cbills, or MC the Cbills. The former is distasteful to the ever protected zerglings (84% if memory serves me right), so in order to get your MRB chit, you'll need to cash in ($100 +/- for 18,8 million Cbills) to provide 1/12th of the Dropship costs necessary for Merc Units to operate in CW.

The game was already pay2win with premium time and mech bays, not really seeing how this is much different.

You need to get all the info before you post. i know you're all hurt that group queue isn't in yet but it's gonna be there replacing 12 mans. Dunno where you got that private matches will replace that.

I can't understand why "this may replace that" keeps turning into "this will replace that".

I think a company who has such a poor grasp of their own game's economics is in serious trouble.

Kind of like how "We are looking at implementing 3PV" turned into full integration of 3PV in less than 3 months? Can't imagine how people get the idea that when PGI wants something, it happens in the shortest order possible.

That's a whole other can of worms. I am more mystified by the comprehension breakdown between what is written in a source and what gets repeated as gospel. Although, from no 3PV to fully integrated 3PV in three months... I wonder how far back that put the rest of development!

It's not so much a comprehension thing, you've been around enough to know that it almost becomes Pavlovian.
Russ mentions in an NGNG podcast that eventually he hopes that the 12p queue gets rolled into Private Matches.
Paul mentions when discussing the group queue that, "It would probably replace the current 12-man public queue."
At that point, you might as well take it as read that the 12p queue is not going to be a thing much longer.

Bell is ringing, go get your treat.
