I find the 4 medium lasers work very well, and that the cplt is a very good medium range mech because of its torso twist and jump jets, so I haven't bothered to switch to lrm 20's.

what I'm wondering however is if dropping to an xl 300 and fitting a bap is better than running an xl 310. I could also drop 2 heatsinks if i had to.

this is what I'm currently using (elited) and its quite efficient, netting me any where between 300-900 damage a game, even on losses, unless I play like a baddy or get unexpectedly ambushed by a throng of light mechs that relentlessly run into me.

I've also been considering running without artemis as many games wind up as indirect fire instead of direct fire due to camping, but in the situations where i can see what i'm shooting at they have a really bad day and that is why I'm leaning against dropping it for more heatsinks or bap.

I believe you are missing at least BAP, some ammo, and front armor while making the ears squishy for no reason. I would also consider adding TAG and moving the ammo to the torso for extra safety. This would be my personal upgrade. Yes, it will cost you the engine rating, but this mech does not need as much speed unless you specifically kit it out for skirmishing.

You know to this day I am still regretting not getting a founders CPLT-C1 since it is arguably my favorite mech; my Ilya Murromets being very, very, close. I run mine with a little less speed, more ammo, BAP, AMS and all the goodies with most of my armor up front. CPLT-C1 It has it all so that ECM does not shut you down or prevent you from locking. Plenty of speed for you to get around and keep up with your team so that you will not be left behind. You really do not need the extra DHS since they help your heat with MLs but not as much with the ALRM15s (which you should be using 99% of the time). Also with 7 tons ammo you can dish out a potential of 1386 damage but expect to hit with a 33% accuracy (unless you directly fire at your target) so expect around 500 damage per match and about 1 kill (LRMs hurt your target but kill less than direct fire weapons). Good luck and good hunting.

yes but bap only cancels ecm within 150 meters, and if they're that close you're better off with 4 medium lasers than 3 and a tag because lrm's don't arm until around 180. Besides that I've gotten rather good at dumbfiring lrm's, so while tag makes me money it's not necessary. Also a lot of my lrm shots are without los, so artemis is rather wasted in most situations (not to mention bap and tag are also useless in these situations), however artemis useful in los situations without costing me a laser and that's why I haven't removed it yet. Oh yeah, not to mention in a drop with other people i wouldn't need my own tag.

and you are also wrong about the speed. more speed = lower repositioning times, evasion from heavies and assaults, and longer jumps. the lowest I'd ever go is a 300.

You are quite right about not being able to lock onto a ECM mech; BAP helps more with still being able to lock other targets while an ECM Spider is harrassing your flanks. Also you can shut it off and target the enemy mech which makes it easier for your team to respond and assist you. Plus the extra targeting range means that you can spot enemy mechs further out and keep tabs on them until they enter your engagement range.

TAG is one of those pieces of equipment that you can live without and will sometimes wish that you had. If you consistantly drop with others that bring NARC or TAG, then yes bring the extra ML since 20 damage will scare lights away faster than 15. But if you PUG a lot like I do (I never drop with anyone) then TAG lets you target ECM mechs withing 750 meters, tightens the grouping of LRMs/Streaks, 25% longer decay on target locks, and gives you a 50-75% boost to lock speed. http://mwo.gamepedia.com/Tag This is why I think that it is worth it to a missile support mech.

I 100% agree with you that speed = life and I try to keep my heavies 76+kph and my mediums 90+kph to make them harder to hit, get to and from places quickly, and maneuver faster to spread damage or track fast targets. Hell my Heavy Metal runs at 65kph.

I have to agree that your ammo load is a bit light. I run 4 tons of ammo for 2xLRM10 on my C1, I would run 5 or 6 for twin 15s just to make sure I don't tap them out too often.

As for your engine, the 300 XL will only result in a loss of less than 3 kph.
