It seems ridiculous to me that the missiles don't go in the missile bays the just stick them to the outside for no apparent reason. why do they even have the giant bunny ears in the first place they could just glue that nonsense to the side of the torso and call it an arm...

I rather prefer they fix the mech sizes before weapon sizes.

But all the catapults look worse than before, especially the missile ones, the k2 is acceptable if you are not using ppcs.

Yup. I really dunno how some of these things get by QA and Internal Testing... or do they just smoke the good stuff in BC and think they actually looked good?

I don't feel that weight has to be directly proportionate to size in all cases, but I never thought the Stalker was large enough.

The first time I was one I thought, man the Stalker is small...it's the same size as my Catapult?!?

All I know it, if they butchered the missile racks on the Catapult, they need to do some crazy tack on add ons for the Stalker. They won't though because somone who makes decisions at PGI really...REALLY hates the Catapult (and probably loves the Stalker).

Does weight and size have to have a perfect correlation? No. But it should be the base guideline, with reasonable tweaks built around it. As it stands now the disparities are often so glaringly egregious as to be mind blowing.

I think the arbitrary nature of design vs function decisions is what really gets me. PGI has some amazingly talented 3d modelers and concept artists, but sometimes they make really odd decisions on things that directly conflict with decisions made on other mechs.

For instance, the K2 has never suffered from easy to hit ears, but they reduced the size of the PPCs on them. The rest of the Catapults have always suffered from easy to hit ears, but they decide to add "vcrs" to beef up the ears instead of just making the LRMs use the existing internal tubes.

If they're smoking something, it's definitely not BC Bud.
These things look horrible, even to an herbed-eye. :)

Bashing bronies is still in style? Shall we go on about how terrible Bush is, while we're at it? Nice try derailing the thread btw, gj all. I'm not a brony, not my thing, but I seriously don't understand why people can't just stop the hate and tolerate. Or are you guys still up for beating up those D&D nerds this afternoon?

Back on-topic, the new PPCs look like junk. Glad I'm not the only person that HATES the new weapon scaling. hopefully changes will be implemented Soon™.

I would have to say that you quoting something from 9 days ago is derailing the thread more than whatever he said to begin with...

Oh, my bad, don't play forum-warrior online much any more. I was simply popping my head through the door to say something, before going to play something more entertaining. Ignore the fact that I went back on-topic in the end, thus derailing nothing.

And sorry that I hate hate, I'll be sure to not say something the next time I read something terrible.

Apology accepted. Have fun in the other game!

As a Tbolt pilot, let me just say, I find the ballistic arm Utterly Deplorable. Seriously, the ACs look like what to me MGs should look like.
MGs.... I guess I have 2 radio antennae sticking out of my mech's forearm.

When I put an Autcannon on or any big weapon I want it to look like a man's gun. I want it to look like what an AC does on a Jager, or Atlas.

None of this pansy crap

PGI really needs to look at scaling in real life, just so that they understand why we want big guns. the MGs look like M2s when they should look much bigger than something a human could operate. Hell if you look at a GAU-8 it takes up a chunk of the nose of the A-10 (by the way the Airforce is retiring the A-10 WTF!!!). The 120mm cannon on the M1 Abrams is huge not scaled down to match the machine that it is attached to. The point is that in real life and in Battletech lore, the machines were built around the main weapon systems and anything attached meant that the mounts had to be fabricated to hold the weapon; not that the weapon was made smaller to "look good".

Well, it's actually at least been temporarily blocked on that. Bean counter decision. I know there of one aircraft the grunts with boots on the ground pray for when they call for support. Because they know by the time they hear that GAU tearing through the air, the problem is already solved.

Being a former grunt, I can verify this statement. There is NOTHING more reassuring than hearing the sound of those engines incoming, and nothing scarier than the sound of that cannon incoming...

I really like that, except the whole "arm" should have tubes down the front, instead of only the 2-tubes at the very top.

it does. Those are lasers. Stalkers have their arm missiles in bays behind armored doors.

Ohhhhhhhh.... I guess I spend far too much time in the cockpit to have realized that, doh...

How do the doors open - down? I can't remember ever seeing them... And has the Stalker already had the geometry pass?

God damn this game makes me feel old sometimes. You know what I remember right now? Thinking how beautiful and simple it was going from Jenner to Hunchback to Dragon to Atlas in sizes. People complained and speculated how useless the Hunchback would be due to an Atlas having the same AC/20 at the same speed, then that little punk got in the hands of players and punched far above it's weight time and time again.

The Closed Beta had ninety nine problems but Mech Scaling wasn't one.

Until the Catapult was released. First in the trend, sadly. (Still looked baller, though!)
